Captain Obvious on the Titanic:

This can’t be confirmed yet. But perhaps someone else can do some "detective work" and find the linkedin profile.
But according to new linkedin search and knowing previous GMs it looks like Relic is getting a new GM (studio boss) soon.
Source linkedin:

This could be the new COO and the current GM get another position (or he get fired). Who knows.

Relic seek new COO, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (maybe new GM)

There has been no "official COO" since Ron Moravek, 1998-2004. So this is a big change.

Former Relic GMs/Studio Directors; 1997-Present
Alex Garden, Founder & CEO 1997-2004

Ron Moravek, 2004-2006 (former COO, before Alex Garden left)

Jonathan Dowdeswel, 2009-2011

Tim Heaton, 2013 ( interim general manager, Current Creative Assembly Studio director & Sega EVP Studios)

Interesting find. Anyone care to explain what that would mean exactly for Relic?

When I was trained/hired from within my previous company, it was basically exactly what it means. General management. You would have the overall responsibility of managing revenue and cost for just about everything. This includes day to day operations and, in Relics case, most likely sales and revenue generation as well. There is a chance that for a game studio this role would also include a hand in marketing/advertisement.

A general manager can also "vary" in what the title means or responsibilities are, but a GM is basically a CEO, it especially varies between what the business does and how large they are, as the larger they get, the higher the likely hood that the position becomes weaker in terms of "power" as their would then be a board of directors.

Overall it means very big things, ESPECIALLY depending on what their previous titles where. I wouldn't be surprised if this is someone from CA [Creative Assembly] being moved over.

However this is all speculation, as when I was moved up to a RM position in the previous company, it was for Retail, this is assuredly different in some key regards, even though the stress of the two environments would be relatively the same.

Hope that helps in some way.

Yeah pretty much this. I also believe that in the case of a company like relic, the general manager has the lead over internal affairs and a CEO actually has to deal with investors and other external parties.
