Since release I heard from a credible source that CE includes one extra year of Theater of War, though the very vague list of contents in the steam store could easily be interpreted to mean it includes all future ToW. It's fair to assume that $100 would get you everything (like it does for every other CE title) short of a full fledged expansion pack e.g. Heart of the Swarm. But apparently all I got was a few extra hours of missions, some reconfigurations of the same doctrine abilities, and different tank camos?

This feels like the biggest ripoff ever, worse than COD map packs. I don't feel like there was any sort of financial incentive paying the extra $40. Instead it just feels like a full priced bundle of all the outrageously overpriced skins and commanders, most of which I wouldn't have bothered purchasing individually. I really want to downgrade to a vanilla $60 version, I would have to be loaded or out of my mind to knowingly spend an extra $40 on such a small amount of tangible content.

I got the CE too and the soreness won't go away. ='(

Though I guess we saved $10 over those who chose not to get the CE edition but decided to get every single day 1 DLC that the CE contains separately...

Only because they got fucked much harder than we did. All the skins bought outside of the CE total to $50, and the commanders that are just recycled from the retail game total near $30.

We are just 7 weeks post release, and we already have DLC that totals 130% the cost of the actual game. Again, this is only counting aesthetic changes, and commanders reshuffled from abilities that we already own. By the time they fill the rest of the slots for DLC commanders and skins, and add in 5 more years of ToW missions, we are going to spend close to $300 on a game that doesn't even have dedicated servers. Activision and EA would be very proud to see somebody else managing to make triple what they get from a single title's DLC revenue. This is appalling.

Feel free to not buy everything they release. That's your prerogative.

It does also have the 3 earlier Company of Heroes games (I know, basically all of us have these already).

I got the collectors and I love it. Buuuut I only got it because I loved CoH 1 and wanted to support Relic since they gave me 7 years entertainment with CoH 1, I didn't get it because of the bonuses.

In end, like pretty much every collectors edition, what you get in terms of content isn't worth the price. I'd say the ONLY reason there is to get collectors edition anything is to show your support for the company.

Yeah, I thought getting the entire COH 1 was worth it. I normally wouldn't buy all the commanders and skins and things, but getting all those games too seemed like a good deal to me.

I bought the collectors edition, partly for the bonuses, but mainly to support the developer who made my favorite game of all time. Now if they could only get that money from thq, I would be supporting them :p

It's still kinda unknown whether or not more premium content will come with the DCE. There's that ambiguous phrase:

Theater of War Mini Pack
  • Post Launch Content Bundle

This exactly, I agree with you Basilone about price and what you getting obviously its a rip but I figured that from the beginning and I also knew COH2 would not meet the insane expectations even I had for it upon release. That being said I dont feel I wasted my money at all because I do want to support Relic and also had mad hours of entertainment out of Coh1 and now 2 even with its flaws. In terms of real world entertainment costs you get plenty of bang for your buck considering how much hours of entertainment these games can give you ... years of entertainment. If I want to go to the movies with my family or something, 2 hours or less of entertainment and most likely crappy entertainment I am probably spending at least fifty bucks if not more.

If at least we would have gotten a miniature "Brummbär" with the CE...

But I agree, the cost does not seem to match up the value. I preordered as soon as it was available, and the information released as of what was to happen was horrendous after the take over from Sega.

Surely, we will not be let down in the near future for buying the CE?

This. Also I only had COH1 on DVD, so was happy to grab a Steam version.
I've brought enough games that disappointed me, I don't mind spending an extra £20 on one that I haven't stopped playing for six years.

Pretty much the reason I got ToV; a series of perks and a couple of new units for the price of a full game seemed like a rip off but I bet a lot of die hard fans got it more to support the developer.

What's just plain bad about the digital collectors edition is it doesn't feel like any effort was put into it; one single faceplate couldn't have taken that long to design and the extra commanders are nothing but 5 random abilities. The tank skins are pretty nice but they're not even exclusives. It feels more like Relic pulled a fast one on me considering there is nothing really exclusive besides the faceplate. It might as well have been called the "DLC Pack #1" at least a lot of people would have appreciated the honesty. I'm not upset for getting it, just a little disappointed that we didn't get a real Collectors Edition with cosmetic multiplayer features not available anywhere else.
