Scout cars suck

Scout cars(soviet and wc51 USF) kinda suck for their price/investment. They don't really make a big impact and they are relatively expensive. The WC51 costs alot of mp and fuel in addtion to requiring a commander choice, where as the Soviet m3 requires tech (mp, fuel and time)

I have two suggestions to improve their usage. 2nd is more drastic but they are not exclusive or codependent

1. Reduce the fuel price (on both) by 5-10. They aren't tons better than kubels, but they cost more and fuel to boot. The wc51 is even a bit too pricey on mp so a reduction by 20-40 can be justified for that as well.

This is certainly warrented when compared to something like a 4 kubel build that can pin an allied player in base, these vehicles are nowhere near that level of effectiveness for their cost.

2. Eliminate transport capacity. This would allow the price to go down and make them basically jeeps. They aren't even very good as assault vehicles at the moment. Jeeps are certainly more fun 1 minute into the game and there are other options for clown cars in m5 halftracks.

Anybody agree, disagree or any comments? Mabye their super op

Don't use scout cars against ostheer. Use soviet clown cars against OKW nearly every game if the map allows for it. They cannot faust it till they have their tech up so put a penal/flame engineer in it and just ruin squads while all their damage goes to the car. WC51 should really only be utilized if OKW is going kubel spam, and should potentially be in your loadout as USF just in case this happens. Otherwise USF cannot deal with kubels till they get an M20, and even then a luchs will run it over.

It seems like a unit isn't designed very well if you can't use it in half your games though (m3 vs Ostheer). And I would say that WC51 only being useful vs 1 specific strat also implies it is under performing

You CAN use them vs ostheer and against other strats, I just don't recommend it because your opponet will have actual counters. Ostheer has fausts if they build T1. OKW does not which is just exploiting a design flaw.

Transport capability could stay, fire from garrison is the issue.

Even that could stay but simply delayed via an upgrade that required some tech.

The soviet scout car is actually really good. The wc51 just sucks because you can't get flamer echelon in it.
If you are having problems with the soviet scout car, you could improve by working on your micro and practicing with it.

even against okw it is still prety dangerous to go, since it cost 15 fuel, which mean t70 will come late and it already come way later than luchs.

you don't want to get a t70 against luchs, all you are going to achieve is losing the battle of attrition.

And WC51 cost nearly nothing IF you can manage to retreat it.

As Shadow said - Scout Cars are great against OKW and can really help you halt their early game advantage if you get it out after your first Penal Squad. You can use it to quickly take out their Kubel or force retreats before they get fausts. Against Ostheer you have to play more conservatively but a Flamer Scout car is awesome at forcing garrisoned MG42s to retreat from positions that are otherwise hard to crack if you go T1. If your opponent goes Assault Grens then Scout Car is also great there too because Ass Grens don't have Fausts. Just don't try to duel with Grens because it's very micro taxing to stay out of faust range constantly.

You have to think of Scout Cars as more of an early game harassment unit - look for lone capping squads that don't have fausts and chase them down on retreat. Or use a Scout Car as a ghetto kubel and harass your opponents cut off or fuel.

t70 is a soft counter, but my point is viable.
