I'm playing age of empire 2 hd

^^ That game rocks!

If you want to get a history lesson you can always go back and play:

Homeworld
Red Alert 2
Warcraft II

but if you like the old titles and want to find an online match, AoE2 is probably your best bet.

Turn based games are fun but take a lot of time in multiplayer.

one fun turn based game that doesn't take too long in multi would be frozen synapse.

there is vCoh

i would recommend men of war(series) if you want world war 2. but god dam its micro micro micro management. each unit has an inventory. it is still a lot of fun. you can ride units at certain times. and it has true true sight(as in soldier cant literaly see behind their backs. can be disabled).

people have been telling me to buy wargame ariland battle, but i don't like its realistic distances and suppahuge maps. what is this RTS for ants?

It needs to be at least... three times bigger!

-------------

Great RTS games (CoH is unique in and of itself, but these are all fun:

-Age of Empires series. All of them are good, 2 is best, 3 is decent.

-Starcraft 1 & 2, no matter what you hear, is a good RTS.

-Warcraft Series: all excellent RTS games

-Homeworld 1 & 2: The most existentialist capital ship explosions I've ever seen. This is the RTS that started Relic. Nuff said.

-Dawn of War: Fun, 1 is best.

-Rise of Nations: Interesting, consists of ultra spam.

-Panzers: Pahse One and Phase Two: It is a Tactical RTS game, but it is fun to kill time.

-Battle for Middle Earth 1 & 2: Servers wee discontinued, but you can still play with GameRanger.

-Supreme Commander 1 & 2: Great, interesting macro game.

-Sins of a Solar Empire: Amazing game, slow paced, but fun once you get the ropes.

I've personally tried all of these games, and can say they will at least give you a good night's fun if you try them properly. Some of them are old and you may dislike them, but Gaming History is always good :)

Frankly, the most CoH-like game that isn't CoH? Warcraft 3. Late game it starts to become more Starcraft, but early game it has more of a CoH feel.
