I think Siphon summed it up perfectly to be honest. Anyone with common sense can see the outcome that was reached was sensible. And anyone can take small quotes out of context or apply a twisted perception of them to 'back up their point' ( Dangerous Cloth).
I am genuinely a VonIvan and DevM fan and the the fact that G5 was essentially a complete rematch of G4 was a good call by DevM choosing that map and faction to make it fair. Not only this But Von got the win for the Bugsplat which then meant he was in a stronger position than G4 because he only needed to win G5 to proceed to finals instead of having to win G4 AND G5.
Only thing that can sensibly be disputed was the handling of the situation and not the result. Even then where people are quoting How A_E told Von to shut the fuck up (le_saucisson_masque ) you forget hooligan actually commented directly after von and before A_E said this which helps to show it wasn't aimed at any one person. So to try to say that it was aimed soley at von is at best a twisted perception of it. I can empathise with A_E editing the chat log slightly because of the language used however the alterations kept the same intentions to the un-edited meaning.
Overall it could have been handled more sensitively but under that kind of time pressure with 1600 people waiting for the live stream as well as a tough situation I think its really quite understandable.
This has been one of the only Tournaments I've watched the whole way through because of how enjoyable it is, keep up the good work A_E

This is a fair and well worded assessment, cheers. And thanks for the kind words.

Hi to all,
i just registered, because i want to point out a few points from someone, who isn't involved in this communitiy and all the accusations around (bias, hate etc.) - i don't know anyone here outside of following the tournament. And after following this discussion i registered . I hope i can calm down some of you.
1. I cannot see anything pointing towards a preference for DevM from "official" side
1.1. For me it's clear, that in the "officials" thinking, the solution found was a disadvantage for DevM
1.1.1 Because the rules state clearly, that in this case (bugsplat, but very obvious advantage for one player) the referees can give the win to the advantageous player (irrelevant who had the bugsplat) and this could have been executed in this case (independent from rules of other tournaments or what another person in the chat told)
1.2. A_E - for me as an outsider - looks more on Vons side (when he said "but the game was not over yet" or similar when the others clearly stated that DevM was the winner and could/should be handed the win over)
2. Von doesn't look like someone, who talks much in comparison to DevM, so (from what i see from the talking before the match even starts), so it is no sign of favor or interdiction, if DevM talks more in percentage
3. "shut the fuck up" - like they said, the chatting was very fast, so...
3.1. ...the order of the statements in the protocol cannot prove, who A_E adressed with it
3.2. ...is a rather comprehensible way to show, that you want the others to stop writing and concentrating on that, which will follow from your side (because it is so rude, it is more likely to be noticed and followed)
3.3. however it wasn't the right choice of language
4. The solution was clearly seen as disadvantageous for DevM, because he should or at least could have named the winner of the game and therefor the match
4.1. DevM wasn't part of the decision making from what i see; he had the same role as Von (agreeing or disagreeing)

4.1.2. However to add, I had to ask DevM twice because I felt it was such a disadvantage to him.

i think alot of people here don't realise how much effort you need to put to organize such a big tourney.
i personnaly want to thank A_E, Stormless and GB Holo, for doing that WITOUT getting payed.
I had alot of fun watching the best players playing the game i love. it was as much as fifa finals for me.
Relic seem to put the minimum effort on the game right now, IF people like the ones i named and the community balance team stop puting time in this game, what we got left?
So to the 1% that only seem getting fun by trying to spoils everthing, please stop.
A_E did some errors, like all of us do. BUT i seen him doing EVERTHING he can do make less errors the next time. What do you want more from him? stop being inmature and move on. Find solutions, and post em, AND like A_E did said, he want to get better rules etc.

we are all in a way giving valuable feedback to make things better in the future because we ALL want coh2 and its community to success.
Stop saying the people who disagree with you are simply 'haters' and want 'chaos',
You are not giving constructive feedback and you know it lol ^^
Please try to read dude. I never said or showed that i don't like the people who disagree. I thanked people who didn't agree for their CONSTRUCTIVE feedback. And i even apologized to momo bcs i laughed at him bcs i thought he posted something that was wrong which was actually right. It makes literally 0.0 sense what you are saying
honestly it makes me think to the way hitler dealt with jews & communist in 1936 : say they want to destroy everything because communist & jews are evil, so that he could destroy them freely later..
guess who destroyed germany ? definately not the jews and communist.
I should invise your post for you posting this, but i won't because you will start whining that i invise your posts which means you can't post your sincere and nice and constructive and well argumentated opinion.
Definately agree with you on this point, DEVM is the one who got a bugsplat.
He got this (because ?) he refused to restart his computer before start of the game (as told by rules and repeated by referee), so why would VONIVAN have to suffer the consequences of a DEVM mistake ?
Still it's not obvious for some people, but you are indeed absolutely right.
-------------------
Vonivan provided us some very interestig UNEDITED picture of their chat between AE, him, DEVM and another referee.
I simply took 3 lines of this chat, but it's just like that all the way (see VonIvan post for more details) :
- Does it seems fair ?
- Does VONIVAN has to suffer the consequences of a DEVM mistake ? (refused to restart computer before round 4)
- Is that fair when in a 4 men chat, 3 of them have made their decision and VONIVAN is alone to defend his position ?
FROM WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU GETTING THAT DEVM REFUSED TO RESTART HIS PC?!
Like serious, why are you making this shit up? Even if you look at the chat devm never said that, he actually agreed that we should restart. He refused to restart after the bugsplat because everybody was blaiming him for the bugsplat while he can't do ANYTHING about it. VonIvan didn't suffer from the decision, he benefited how many times do i have to say please use your brain
Some rules said explicitely that the man having BUGSPLAT should be considered as the looser, which is what happens in ALL the other sport as explained by VONKLUGE
Honestly, i think that mistakes were made during the decision making,
i hope this kind of constructiv feedback can help to make future better but i definately think that VONIVAN should get COMPENSATION for all these reasons.
In my opinion, victory should be granted to VONIVAN and round 5 should be done AGAIN but this time without giving to DEVM all these advantage.
POST THE RULE HERE THAT EXPLICITELY SAID THAT THE MAN HAVING A BUGSPLAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS THE LOOSER. BCS THERE ISN'T ONE
You aren't posting constructive feedback, the only thing you are doing is making up things.
-devm didn't refuse to restart
-vonivan didnt suffered from the bugsplat
-vonivan didn't get shut down in chat
-there is no rule that explecitily says that the man having a bugsplat is the looser
Again, stop posting things that you just make up, somebody help me tell this men
