G43s on Panzer Grenadiers?

Is this a good idea? I always thought the STG-44 out-DPSed the G43s up close, so why would anyone use the upgrade?

The g43s are slightly better at max range. You never want to get this upgrade. You can also use interrogation with them, which everyone seems to forget.

Get it on Grens only. Its a huge waste on Pgrens and Stormtroopers.

I think it is, but some people would say no.
The g43s are a buff at every range compared to the kar98s, but the lmg42 is way better at long range. I like to mix it up and get 2 lmgs and 2 g43 squads. Use them in pairs, one lmg squad one g43 squad. The strength of the g43s is their incredible accuracy on the move, so use them to chase down and wipe retreating squads.

Unlike the lmg42, you get 2 g43 rifles, it's 15 muni cheaper and nearly doubles your close range damage on the upgraded squad members.
Definitely worth against riflemen / cons / penals that also want to get close.
Really depends on enemy faction, playstyle and map you play on.

G43s don't require sitting still to fire. If your opponent is being cheesy with indirect fire it's one of the best ways to both deal damage with your grens and keep them alive for more than a volley.

G43 is great against Maxim blob and against IS, riflenade than close in. Also works well when your opponents use lots of indirect fire and close-range units. G43 Grens beat PPsh Cons spam.

I would personally say no in regards to Panzergrenadiers.
Yes it does improve their firepower but you've also got another 45 munitions invested into a 4-man squad whose main job is infantry AT. It's already a big loss when you lose 120 munitions worth due to potential squad wipe, I'd rather just give it to a Grenadier squad rather than concentrate all 165 munitions into a single squad. Given the limited munitions to go around every match, IMO it's better served spread out to more squads.
That's not to say I never tried it nor always seen a negative outcome, but from a limited economic perspective, G43s on Panzergrenadiers is hardly priority.

Yes it does improve their firepower.
Aside from becoming sustained DPS to burst, it's not even an improvement until the last 5 meters while gimping the short-range.
DPS: 0/10/20/30/35
G43 PG: 12.83/9.639/5.22/3.544/3.0149
StG PG: 15.35/12.816/5.51/2.55/1.2
These things need a considerable boost at range as they're replacing already very powerful weapons and are dotrinal to an elite infantry unit. Really the only thing you get in most cases is better firing on the move capability. In the ranges PGs will generally be in, the StG does better and probably benefits from veterancy better as more accuracy applies to every round fired.
