So I was listening to Tiger Tracks (audiobook)recently. It was interesting to hear how a Tiger 1 could be so easily destroyed by a single molotov or ATG on the engine compartment when fighting on the eastern front. In fact Wolfgang said he feared infantry far more more than upgraded T34-85s.

Getting your Tiger 1 destroyed by a conscript squad - i'm sure than would result in a few rage-quits haha

Pretty much all tanks back then could be "easily" immobilized by this kind of attack.

After all you got a rather exposed engine compartment, which isn't just solid metal, but also contains a bunch of cables and other soft targets around the engine.

It was a common tactic, for example Finns lacking good anti-tank guns during the winter war used molotovs to destroy Soviet tanks by throwing it on the thing where the engine sucked air in, only to suck in flames instead.

If infantry managed to get so close as to attack your tank's treads or engine compartment, your own infantry either failed to do their job of combined arms, or the tank failed to stick close to friendly infantry.
