Come on Relic it is high time you introduced REAL CUSTOM HOTKEYS or change the tactical map hotkey somewhere to left hand side.

You cant really blame them. They have been so focused on balance and optimization for the last two years. Putting a rebinding for hotkeys would take years of programming alone.

Assuming you don't use ancient technology as your hardware, you can do what everyone sane did and map the key to one of mouse side keys.

It really helps a lot.

Relic having proper hotkey customization probably won't happen until they move to a new engine and ditch scaleworks crap. Hotkeys are in the .rbf files for whatever reason. Kind of annoying sometimes, for example Elite mod for DoW2 copy and pastes some units and abilities to make new ones but don't think about hotkey conflicts at all.

They had an .ini file you could edit for Dawn of War 2, but my guess is it was someone's pet project. Wasn't a great implementation but better than nothing.

Well, how to do that?

If you have proper gaming mouse you can just use its software to map any keyboard key to mouse additional buttons for example.

If you have budget mouse, but still have side buttons, programs like x-mouse button control are what you're looking for.

I wonder who figured out that Num Pad 0 is perfect key for tactical map.

Very close to R, T and U, just under your left thumb...

Real gaming keyboards don't have numpads, the ones with are the "ancient technology" you spoke of.

I want to be able to change a lot more then just the tactical map though.

Why for example do different mainline infantry require different hotkeys? AOE2 which I can still remember all the hotkeys for were the same for every faction and that makes sense.

I like to play all factions in pretty much equal amounts but it can be a bitch if it has been a number of weeks since I last played a faction and something as simple as remembering what the hotkey for IS vs, Grens, Rifle..

If I could id just hotkey the building and assign each unit a number from left to right.

What's wrong with Hotkey ?? Just put it in Startup and you won't even feel the difference.
