Anybody have these? My GF spoils the shit out of me and my bday is in a few days. I also happen to be in need of some new headphones. Any personal reviews and/or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks

id recomend getting a good pair of headphones then getting a clip on mic. gett better sound quality and the 9 doaller clip on mic is pretty darn good.

you pay so much more for a crappy mic and a sub par set of headphones (that is if you get a gaming headset.)

It's true. A really good headset plus mic should run you over 150 EUR / 200 bucks. There's just no way around it if you want quality. The Senny's that Tasteless/Artosis use on GSL are over $1,000 EACH.

i had still have as a backup a 20 dollar headset from senheiser and i noticed only slighty worse quality than my steel-series 5hv2 headset. ya know minus the simulated surround sound theses things kicked ass.

also the mic to is this one make sure you get a headphone with a thick cord though.

Not really a fan of clip on mics tbh. I looked at the Sennheiser site and i see multiple headsets in my price range with an attached mic. Gonna go check out some reviews! Thanks guys

your choice ;)

But as others said, headsets are a ripoff. you get so much more bang for the buck, when buying headphones individually. I can suggest AKG headphones, cause they have really good quality for acceptable prices.

Go Sennheiser!

+1

Have had a lower mid-priced set that I've used for the last 5 years, still sound great. The foam is wearing out, so I will buy another pair.

This might prove useful: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-11-12-12-sennheiser-hd650-added

As posters above me have stated, gaming headsets are rip-offs!
In any case, you should definitely go with open headphones for gaming, as they sound more natural and don't amplify your own voice. You can't go wrong with Ultrasone pro2900, HiFiMAN HE-400 (Rev. 2) or Akg k702, although I'd recommend the Ultrasones or HiFiMAN HE-400 (Rev. 2) for music listening. You'll need an amp/dac for such headphones as well; check the link for details on that.

Sennheiser is the way to go. Specifically the HD 25-1 II

Get a tried and tested pro tool rather than a fashion accessory.

Genuinely pro quality headsets are silly money. £400++
