While i agree the whole commander and DLC system is a mess, and this subject feels like beating the dead a horse, this is looking at the past with rose-tinted glasses.

Clowncar, ram, 85s, strafe of doom, G43+LMG42, HTD, ISU/Ele, PVs, Su85s, etc.

The new warspoil system is arriving 2 years late, but better late than never i'll say.

The past had its problems but its not the kind of problems that would put players off playing for good.

Bugs are acceptable, a non-balanced game is acceptable (esp at that early stage), bugs + Paywall for meta commanders is not acceptable, esp for an RTS game.

Saying that you are entitled to compensation isn't very fair as you payed for their services (patches, freeDLC (maps, MLNW commanders, skins, and new bullitins). Server upkeep isnt cheap nor is producing new models for WFA and Brits. They aren't "fucking around with" you, making the base game free 2 play (solvs, and wher) allows for a larger community, a more inclusive community, and a gateway to get new people to add to balance discussion.

You can go on all day about the value proposition of a video game but honestly its all about where you stand financially. Making the base factions wouldn't effect you in any way other. It would be as if relic made CoH3 and made the base factions the same as coh2 but made them free 2 play. Its not an attack on you the consumer its simply changing their business model.

I'm not entitled to anything nor do I demand that I am, and this is not about fairness it's about keeping your most loyal fanbase happy and actually upholding that loyalty, why would I be loyal to somebody who's constantly treating me as a peice of shit, or in this case, a money bag? In games that went F2P those who bought the original game were somehow compensated but they were of course not entitled to it, but if the game developer wanted to keep his most loyal and active fanbase loyal they gave me additional and special if not even premium content over the F2P fanbase, for example let's take Valve and TF2, all F2Ps needed to buy something in order for them to become premium players, or since 2013 or whatever Easter a premium gift in order for you to make your account premium and get more slots, the ability to trade and a few more things. I understand the the way F2P works and the DLC in this game would greatly help that but I refuse to keep supporting Relic if they pull this off with a simple "Sorry but we need to make more money and for that we need more people and for that we need to make some part of the game F2P". I don't care about that, I have all of the armies and pretty much all of the commanders with the exception of a few and for now my most played Armies have been Ostheer until OKW and OKW until UKF, now I'm constantly switching between UKF and OKW because I like both but I don't even bother with the other 3, that's also the reason why I'm against some of the directions taken with the new war spoil changes as well.

TL;DR

Make your most loyal fans feel loved and not just treated as a pile of money.

£2.99 for a commander is a pile of money?

Its more like +300 to get all content after buying the full priced game.

I'm afraid that the new war spoil system comes > 2 years too late.
Most players left are the fanbase (about 10.000 more or less) that have sticked with the game for a long time and also have most of the commanders (or at least some additional content).

It seems like relic really tries to not make money if you look at their ideas. Without their ridiculous greed they would have made at least ten times the money.

Right... that's why they tried to "MMO" Company of Heroes Online with a pay2win cash shop system lol. You don't think that has "greed" written in it?

There's a reason why it flopped miserably and is never talked about ever again.

The difference between CoHO and CoH2 is that some people (including me) paid 60 bucks for the game.
CoHO was free2play.

+1
I've got 13 frag range bulletins, it's a little late for them to be fixing it now. They said they were "looking into it" over a year ago, and the alpha was what, a week ago? I feel cynical being this frustrated with Relic, but they keep demonstrating more and more care for cashflow.

Anyone remember the Elbe day update? It was a few months before USF and OKW got released, and it was the last time I had any confidence in Relic. They released lend lease and mobile defense for free, along with some new maps and a massive update for bugs and balance. I remember thinking that they really had a handle on the game and being confident in where it was going. Since then there has been zero free content outside of community made stuff (or a very lucky warspoils drop), and half the commanders in the game are unusable against competent players.
