Suddenly experiencing severe performance issues

Anyone else suddenly experiencing serious performance issues? Prior to last Friday I ran the game fine. I mean I have a GTX 970 and have everything on the very lowest settings and physics off and it still is chugging. No other games are giving me any issues. I tried reinstalling COH2 and that didn't fix the issue. Any help appreciated!

Are you running any flash programs like Twitch.tv in the background on your browser? I've noticed watching streams alone eats my CPU like 30 % and causes a lot lower fps. Try to validate your steam files or reinstall your GPU drivers?

If you can gather some data, that would also help a lot.

Please open Task Manager before you launch the game. Press alt-enter when the performance issues happens and screenshot both the Processes and the Performance tabs in Task Manager for us.

You can also use GPU-Z or Process Explorer to view what your video card is doing. The links and instructions are in my guide. Just use Ctrl+F to find them.

No other programs open except for steam and ventrilo. I've also checked for viruses and such and see nothing.

CPU and GPU temps? Very high on either could cause pretty massive FPS drops.

Also, unlikely, but HDD usage? Just open up resource monitor and check disk usage while in-game. Its very unlikely, but the one time I was doing disk-intensive stuff while in-game it caused pretty massive lag spikes.

Thanks. Off to bed now but I will try resource monitor tomorrow.

I am also using the same card GTX970 and having the same issue. Nigh unplayable load times and framerate.

I updated my drivers and validated my cache in steam for COH2 but it's unplayable for me still.

GTX970 here and i've been having problems too.

After playing a game for 10-15 mins, i would get major fps lag and the game would basically be unplayable. I haven't had the problem for days now, but it happened every time I played for a few days, tried closing every program, and updating drivers, but it didn't help. Not sure why the problem seems to have gone.

As long as he has 8gb, he should be fine, unless he likes to have 100 other programs opened in the background together with browser with 200 tabs.

Browser with 30 tabs and coh2 is fine though for 8gb.

Isn't buying more ram for a game that suffers from memory leaks a bit futile? AFAIK there's NO games out there that really need more than 8 GB of RAM. If many ppl are having problems with GTX970, it's probably a driver issue that NVIDIA will fix.

I have the 970GTX also and have no problems at all, but i'm still at driver 361.75 not 361.91 maybe new driver is causing the problems?

GPU maker Nvidia has responded to claims that its critically praised GTX 970 uses only 3.5GB of its 4GB of VRAM, resulting in performance drops or stuttering in games that pass over that threshold.

CoH2 rarely uses that much Vram though. Using MSI afterburner usually shows under 2gb (iirc) during most games, regardless of game size.
