Watching USF replays of Quentin I'm noticing he loves building 5 riflemen and slowly taking the map with the insane firepower 5 rifles have. I watched a game vs Angriefen (not a very good player but not bad at all) where Quentin had 5 rifles, LT, CPT, pack howitzer, and RE...with 800 Manpower in the bank.
So: how do you go 5 to 6 riflemen without bleeding like a pig, or wiping squads in early engagements?
How's Quentin pull off 5 Riflemen?

We'd need to post a replay. Without seeing for myself I would imagine it's a cost benefit thing, a shift in tactics that I'm beginning to see with UKF players. Instead of retreating after an engagement hits a crescendo as most of us do suffering a loss of... say on avg, 2-3 men per squad, he'll not only withdraw earlier before sustaining causalities, maintaining field presence with his extra squad, but he'll also utilize the roaming power of the extra squad, two if you count the officers, to setup his engagements and sort of rout his opponent from the field just by shear numbers and mobility. I know I would have second guesses about engaging 5+ rifles and officers w/ISG support.

If you have enough brute force you win engagements with ease with very few casulties. For example 6-7 rifles win vs 4 grens with very few losses as long as you don't get caught in HMG. When playing against this as ost is very important to scout it early (count his units) and if you see +4 rifles you shouldn't worry about fast light vehicle and instead of fast t2 just get 5-6 T1 units (grens, mgs, snipers) before going T2.

If u are referring to the game in which he went elite then its easy to explain.
Fighting with elite on certain maps like semoski its actually really hard as axis to not bleed mp.
Flamers deny cover and buildings so u end up getting flamed in a few bursts or through pure rifle dps.

u have to understand that Quentin was top 1 not so long ago , he is a very good player (he just needs practice) so u can't exactly copy his style .

You bleed like a pig with more than 5 rifle + captain
Or more than 6 infantery for soviet and ostheer.
When i was Top 1 in ladders 1v1 :
5 gren + 1MG 42 + HT-pzgren 3cp stugE doc
4 conscripts + 2 guards upgrade 75 muni at start + 1 M3
5-6 Infantery + 2 MG34 as OKW
3 RIFLE 1 LT 2 RE and 1 Para for USF if i played vs Okw
5 rifle and captain vs Ostheer.
But if you have a big Reserv of Manpower, you can make more infantery units
Don't tech fast or bleed mp on Medic in early game.
With More Infantery units you take the battlefield.
As Ostheer, you can give Health for 25 muni at vet 1.

Thanks, pretty much what I was looking for+above. It sucks that you couldn't be in OCF tourney, you probably would own most players.

I did a 5RM/BARs upgrade + Capt vs a OKW and it works pretty fine. But you really need to preserve well your squads while pushing hard to control both fuel points during enough time to compensate your high mp upkeep. Also it delay your ambulance.
I'll probably tryhard in that way and see how it works
