I spotted this bug a while ago and just got it again today. When you put an American .50 Cal HMG in a trench, the gunner goes prone instead of using the animation for fighting from inside a building. Seems kinda daft for him to shoot through a very thick wall of dirt to hit the enemy.
EDIT: Yes! Post successful!

.50 cal is prone everywhere, because it have no standing/at wall stance like Maxim.

Hmmmm... I'll need to look at that again. Still, something might need to get done about it one day. If the animation doesn't exist yet, I guess this is a low priority fix then. :/

The reason this happens is because all MG's have the MG fired from a crouched position. Even the Maxim and DShK get this mode if you put them in Cover or a Building. But the M2HB does not have a standing mode because the the M2's tripod cannot be adjusted. So even in Heavy Cover or in a Building, the M2 will always be laying down.
I suppose they could have a variant where the tripod is removed and the gunner sets the gun a few feet off the ground and crouches to fire, but since the height of walls, objects, and windows vary greatly, this probably wouldn't look any better.

Are you sure about that? I've never seen it kneel, anywhere. There is an extended M2 model, but it's not used. Although after an extensive search it seems to have been removed, so this is the only picture I have of the extended M2.

A bit late on discovering this, but the Russian Maxim HMG seems to suffer from the same problem. It goes prone too. Captured one with an Infantry Section and placed it in, expecting it to use the stand we all know it has. :/
