Fun Fact:

It was originally known as Operation Market Fucker because Montgomery had Tourette's, fortunately an alert Canadian staffer at SHAEF realised this was unacceptable.

Largest as in most troops involved?

Hardly, even in the Allies Singapore and the Philippines would be comparable.

That's without even mentioning the East Front and any of the dumb stuff Stalin did

Largest as in biggest mistake?

Even more competition for that title...

Voort, does the word fact mean something different in Morocco?

Well, they said one of the largest, not that it was the undisputed king of *adjective*.

No, but apparently "Fun" does wherever you are...

I can't be the only person who can no longer take the word "Garden" seriously in any COH2 related context

"One of the largest allied fuck ups of the entire war"

I'm not even sure it would make into the Top 10:

Largest Allied Fuck Up has to be comparable to France 1940 or Stalin 1941

...

Hmmm, I can see what you're saying there. Can agree it's definitely not Battle of France-bad.

The last German victory, the last Allied defeat.

A Bridge Too Far has got to be the best book Cornelius Ryan wrote, and that's saying something next to The Longest Day and The Last Battle.

Lots of great quotes in there too: "Out of ammunition, God Save The King".

i thought the battle of Hurtgen forest would be the last German victory speaking of which that battle takes place 3 days from now

If you haven't seen it, now is a good time.

A really good movie! That bridge still exists in Arnhem, it is now called the john-frost bridge.

Didn't know that, interesting. The only thing that bugs me about the movie is watching Rundstedt without a mustache :D

Are you sure about that? I seem to recall it was dynamited either immediately after Frost surrendered or after Oosterbeek was evacuated.

Perhaps they named the new replacement bridge in honor of him?

you were right about the bridge being blown up tho it survived the battle it was later destroyed by "B-26 Marauders of the 344th Bomb Group on October 7 1944 to prevent the Germans from using it to send reinforcements south of the river".
