Operation Market Garden Anniversary

On September 17 1944 (coincidentally the same the day the new patch comes out) was the Allied attempt to break through into Germany via Holland. It involved the usage of Field Marshall Montgomery's 30th Corps and 2 American Airborne Divisions. The expectation was to hopefully end the war by Christmas...this was not to be.

The same 6th Airborne who took the heaviest losses during the entire campaign, I might add.
Njimegan and Eindhoven were no walks in the park, but Arnhem was something else.
(My dad actually worked with(for a few months in the UK) who he suspected was Colonel, later General John Frost of the 6th Airborne)

Actually it was the 1st Airborne division, not the 6th. The 6th took part in the D-Day landings and Varsity.
