Coh 2 doing weird things, please help

Hello Everyone

I'm encountering many issues with coh 2

It will either crash on launch, prior to reaching the main menu

If I get to the main menu, background will not show, it will just be a black screen. Also the promotional stuff in the middle will often be a pink 'bad UI' sign

If I get past this, and join or host a game, after a certain amount of time in the lobby screen, the resolution will suddenly change to either around 1000 by 700 or 600 by 400, not just in game, but for my system

What's more, when I do exit (crashing or not), my desktop background will be black also

What makes this so frustrating was that it would work perfectly just a few weeks ago

I've tried validating the game cashe, but it says nothing is missing

My system specs are:

Intel COre i7 CPU 860 @2.80GHz 2.79GHz

4GB ram

32 bit windows 7 home premium

Graphics card is ATI radeon HD 5770

my drivers are up to date too

- Have you recently installed anything that might affect your display ? recording software for example ?

- Have you recently changed a display or in game video setting ?

- If you have already tried reinstalling the game and video card drivers, I would maybe try to do a Windows Restore from a data that is from 2 weeks ago or later.

If you have not done a complete "delete local files" and reinstall, that would be worth trying. It might just about be possible to have these symptoms arise from a corrupt or damaged media surface, and 'verify local files'might not be comprehensive to catch that.

aerafield: @LimaOscarMike I would say nowadays is a decent time to try CoH3. If you loved CoH2 however, there is a solid chance you're gonna dislike CoH3

Rosbone: But I agree, the cost to get a full decent Coh game pushing $115 US is not the best idea. Especially when it needs so much more work for casuals.
