I really like this change a lot! For those of you out of the loop, the P4 is now buildable from the Schwerer Panzer HQ for 360 MP and 135 fuel.
I fear though that the fuel cost is prohibitive. It's a medium tank for appreciably more than it's equals (on top of having the OKW fuel nerf). I mean, the tank is good, but not 135 fuel + OKW fuel nerf good. And it's a lot more fragile than a panther. A panther is "only" 40 more fuel. It's a hard sell to not try stick it out. So I'm afraid this unit won't see much love. A 5 or 10 fuel price adjustment is in line I think. Still, it has a lot of potential.

I bought vCoH on January 3rd, 2007.
Still missing the days of vCoH 1.71. It had it's issues, like paks sniping 57s, and the strafe didn't work, but overall, it was probably the most balanced time in CoH history.
OF ruined that. CoH 2 is....balanced in a nasty way. Everyone has an equal stockpile of gamebreaking bullshit. USA is full of early game BS while the OKW doesn't get its BS until late game. It's just a question of how badly you exploit the faction's shit and how quickly, after a patch, you discover the gaping holes of bullshit Relic leaves. But either way, it's all BS. The only "BS" in vCoH that was gamechanging was the fast m8 vs a bunker.

The OKW P4 is almost ludicrous in its power. Once it gets up in vet it's probably the best medium tank besides the T-34-85.

I also love this change. And I also am not sure about the cost since you make a valid point.
But you have to consider that fuel-starved OKW has also other units to invest in, saving the 40 fuel for a Stuka/2nd P4/MechHQ/etc. can be viable if you re playing against a rather inf heavy opponent. The P4 increases options and can work as a generalist "safety net", since it has more decent AI capabilities than a panther. I can imagine situations where going for two P4s being the better option than one panther. Particularly in 1v1.
Anyways, we ll see in the upcoming month i guess.

you are god damn right.... a without vet t34/76 is better than without vet p4 ausf.j and t34/76 only costs 80 fuel while this unit 135....i think its fuel price should be 110 or 105 i think

Don´t forget that it comes with skirts right away. It has better armor than the other mediums. That´s 30% more armor than a regular P4.

The OKW P4 is basically a whermacht P4 with the vet 2 bonus from the beginning. Hence the extra ten fuel.

Just to clear some stuff up, the Ostheer PIV was not really intended to have the veterancy of the OKW PIV for a couple of reasons. The old Ausf J OKW had was kinda crap and it needed very powerful vet to be moderately okay. Now when an OKW PIV vets up it will get really powerful really fast.
Unlocks the 'Combat Blitz' ability
+60% turret rotation speed, -25% scatter
-30% reload, +20% rotation speed, +10% ac/de-celeration
+12.5% range, -25% scatter
+53.85% accuracy when moving, +45.8% sight range
The OKW Panzer IV get's less scatter from vet like a handful of OKW units do, but none get it twice. Outside of OKW getting less scatter is reserved for artillery units.

The OKW Panzer IV is the only non-artillery unit in the game that gets less scatter from vet.
OKW Panther / KT also get less scatter from vet.
I think it will be worth the 135FU.

Ah bloody hell, forgot that a fair amount of OKW units DO get it, but the only units I could find outside of OKW that get less scatter are artillery units

Well, after delay of allied mediums p4 can at least be situationally good choice. If it under preforms for its price Relic would have to adjust price.
You cant really use "but panther is only 40 fuel more" argument here, because it same to "but kt is 165 fuel more" and "but jagdpanzer is 80 fuel less". You have no "but", you have choices, so choice wise.

P4 ausf.j is a wiping machine after it hit vet 3.I had some successful matches when using elite armor,even against top players.
Seeing it in T4 is great and will open up a lot new strategies.
Don't forget its still a medium but vetted and in pairs it becomes a threat.
OKW not the weakest faction anymore.

Go for Panther if you have AI covered, go for PIV is you have AT covered. More often than not you will need more AI as OKW if you went a doctrine without elite call in troops or don't want to waste time with Obers.
Good combo would be PIV with Fortifications.
