Skilled players,levels,Smurfs etc.

I often use an alias in ANY game if I am a)not trying to be social with friends and acquaintances and play without distractions b) I am testing things out, especially new maps or mods c)I am (not) playing competitively.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing in and of itself. I think what's more in play is that automatch is currently not providing satisfactory match-ups regardless of your rank or account, and this undermines virtually all sentiments of sustainably competitive play.

I know I haven't ever smurfed in games that use our steam information like CoH2, but back in CoH1, for instance, I had an account I would only use when I was playing competitively and 'for realz'. Any game after a few bong rips and half a pint of whiskey would usually be on a different tag.

It's so they can dick around without having losses influence their leaderboard rank.

I once got wrecked by Cataclaw's smurf account back when he was top 5. I was like, "you know, Cataclaw has a nice M3 strat he likes to use as soviets" and then he's like, "dude, here's my real steam profile" and I was like, "OHHHHHHHHHHHHH".

On the other hand, when speaking about rank, I am currenlty 1800 something. It's a pile of horse shit, really. With Ostheer, I've been in the 2500s after a 15+ loss streak, and I've been as high as 217 before said loss streaks.

(nevermind Romeo's slightly-off audio). To be fair, in that game, I should not have spammed rifle nades and waited for LMG42s, but you know, whatever. My micro was still half decent.

Seriously, watch it. The combination of TM-35s and ISU-152 wipes is hilarious. After that I just dick around with a tiger and pio.

But sometimes, we just get shafted. That game against Cataclaw, I lost. Then against VonIvan, I lost (because my computer crashed due to porn) and then I went on to lose twelve more games in a row.

Bottom line is: Ranks, especially below the top 500, don't really seem to matter much. To a certain degree they certainly do, but the fluctuate with every game they're not really an accurate indication of skill. My typical Ostheer rank is between 1400 and 1200.

Don´t play Axis this patch. It´s pretty much obvious they aren´t competitive any longer. You have your usual Stavka fanboys denying it of course.

Yeah, its the okw that is not competitive against certain meta strats, ostheer is in much better spot than it was last patch, I also climbed in ostheer ladder but its true that I climbed all 1v1 ladders this patch

All my ranks suck. I used to be 900something with americans, which was my best ranking, but I don't play that much, that seriously and I refuse to keep playing meta. Also, having kids means having drops. Since in my current playing level I have a great time, it serves me great.

Sometimes I get automatched with big shots (Hans, Luvnest, DBMB, PaulA). It's good to remember one's place on these games (in my case, how much I suck)

I am 35, have played coh1 since the demo came out.

Age and the lack of fast reactions is of course a factor.... Why I am getting smashed badly sometimes, but rng, commanddelay, callins, my wife, the phone,the beer, the doorbell, my cats and some more beer certainly play a role too...

I don´t get why anyone thinks playing this game for the ranks (even the top 100) means anything,
considering the top 100 getting matched against casuals like me for instance. This fact alone makes those ladders totally pointless.

I feel you bro.... . COH requires 120% of your attention and are so manny things that won't let you play properly. Though we are fighting hard to be in line, this game becomes more and more not for us, "the old guys". Saw you mentioned nothing related to kids. Kids are counting all those things multiplied by three. I have a friend who quit COH for this reason. I wish I was 23-24 again

it seems like the bulletin system is a little advantage for original accounts

otherwise smurf accounts will be full of the top ranks
