If anything, Tanks need less line of sight. Having tanks with less LoS would require them to be accompanied by infantry and create more opportunity for combined arms and provide advantages to the use of combined arms in tank on tank engagements.

That would make AT-guns significantly less effective, because nobody would drive into their line of fire/ or just slightly into it being able to retreat immediately.

So, not a good idea.

Well ,then both units would look at each other. The point is that AT-guns have 60 range. If the view distance went up from 40 to 50 range units, your tank will be into the AT-guns arc of fire by 10 units seeing the AT-gun, and not 20 units and you can escape more easily.

I've always preferred more LOS for both tanks and infantry (like vcoh). The bigger maps nowadays also make it more possible IMO

i want all tanks to have a 90 degree LoS like the jpIV by default and top gunners can make it a full 360.

i figure it would make tank rushes more risky and flanks more rewarding. right now you've got 40 sight in 360 degrees so you're basically safe from anything except an AT gun and if you're paying attention (and assuming pathing doesn't fuck up) you'll never get hit by more than one or two shots per AT gun. if tanks couldn't see behind you could even sneak infantry up on them to satchel or AT nade.

Yeah this is silly idea. Tanks do no have great vision, they NEED supporting infantry for protection. At first the soviets used tanks on their own till they were getting owned by shreks and fausts, so they were forced to change tactics and start using infantry to protect them.

In reality what was the vision like for tanks to see behind them? I'm talking without someone up top of course.

I imagine they had rear vision slits/periscopes of some kind at least?
It would certainly make things interesting if they couldn't see behind them at all.

Oooh, this would make tank dives a lot more punishing, not being able to see behind them when they are unsupported. I think even 180* LoS would be interesting.

It would be a nice feature if we also had a way to lock down the turret of a tank into looking on a specific direction.

Right now is just a interesting idea on paper, that would probably fail on the execution.
