i think the only problem issued here is that in many commanders there is Elite Infantry AND Elite Tanks. I suggest switching some abilities like switching the IS2 with an ability of NKVD and stuff like that so commanders are less of an obvious choice. Call-Ins should either be a shock Unit (like the stug E) or a long Term reward Unit (like JagdTiger) and only come at like 14CP but there shouldnt be both in one commander.
Also i suggest to switch the double t34/85 with the t34/76 of the t3 building and make them come a bit earlier. This also addresses the issue that the difference between the t70 and the t34/76 is too low imo

And on the other hand using combined arms and advancing your troops tactically (cover, flanking, etc.) doesn't provide better results compared to spamming at all and yet requires a huge amount of effort to pull off.
So spamming is simply easier to play and far more rewarding. Combined arms works pretty well in CoH2, it's just spamming works even better and is much easier to play.
It really is a petty, but, like Inverse said, at this point I doubt this is considered to be changed by Relic. It seems to be the "intended" gameplay.
The fact it has never been touched at all emphezises it, because implementing changes to reward combined arms and punish mindless spamming would be totally possible. I have read many good suggestions in this forum. But it has been ignored so far and will be in the future.

I mean, that's kinda how the game was designed. It's a game about micro with token strategic elements. You can love it or hate it, but it's pretty obvious at this point that the design philosophy is here to stay.

Try building 4 Grens into T2 and a 251. Then convert fuel to ammo for 4x LMG42. Works quite well.

I don't see how building 3 Rifleman squads is called spam (like there are any other options for USF in the early game)
Same for 1 or 2 IS-2 call-ins (2 units is spam?).
Guards/Shock spam - still need 1-2 cons for merge/recrew/AT nade, 1-2 ATG. That looks more like combined arms for me.
Something wrong with useage of word "spam" 'nowadays.
There are 1-2 main infantry units and 1-2 main tanks for each faction.
Doctrinal units most of the time are just straight upgrade to stock units, so they will just replace them in that case, not complement them.
How can it be other than spamming main units and ocassionally throwing in support/[hardcounter specialist] unit or two?

People are just angry that two of their units in cover won't beat 5 units in a blob. Which is ok and should be happening.
You're right about why they're angry but I think you're wrong about whether or not it should be happening.
If it should be part of the game, then to what extent should it be effective (damage/second) and to what extent penalised (rec acc, splash)?
I think a lot of people loved CoH for being an alternative to blob n spam games. Suppression and cover mechanics add a lot to the gameplay. You had to learn positioning, timing, tricky mechanics. These things are of less importance when blobbing is effective.
Currently all I see is a battle of who can get the bigger blob and focus fire his enemy down while pressing retreat in time for his units being focused.
And then guards motor/shock rifle/Tiger/whatever meta.

From all the factions, SU is the one with most options, the problem is that you are mostly stack with that option (due to commander selection or tech choice).
I could continue with the other factions but i think that's not the point.
I would like to know how much of a unit is consider spam.
AND it's not like OKW/USF won't spam when they have little variety of support weapons and units to work with.
I stated the things I came across most common. Your options, I do see them from time to time, yet they are not what I face almost every game xd
Well 5 to 6 conscripts, 3 to 4 guards, 4 shocks, not to mention 4 to 5 maxims, 4 t34 85s, 2 is2s. Very common in 2v2s, and just very lame. It is not that it is unbeatable, it is just boring, straight out boring and reptitive.

Hah, really? Do you have CAS? If yes, try it. Convert 2-3 times and see your grens having all lmg42s, your pzgrens having all shrecks while using rifle nades or bundle grenades every time you want to. Sounds good? Well, it's possible. Currently, OStheer blob > OKW blob and in general Ostheer > OKW. The shittiest of the shittiest faction right now it's OKW. Hell, I'm going to improve my Ostheer stats, fuck OKW.
I have that doctrine yes, but I find it pretty boring to be honest haha, I like to have tanks . Never tried that tactic though, I will use it thank you!

Evidently Tier 1 Soviet is cheese while Tier 2 is spam so some people end up eating a spam and cheese sandwich and feel the need to have some whine with it.
