Why the fuck it serve as an arty and assault gun?

It's like Hummel, StuH and Marder-3 mix together on the same tank

I agree that this mix of AT and Arty for the at gun and two other tanks in russian army is a strange thing ...

It shoots the same 152mm rounds as the Russian artillery. That is exactly the role it played in WW2. The ISU-152 is slow and has no rotating turret, has no where near the penetration of the elephant and is the most expensive unit in the game. I think it is balanced.

So if I don't pick the Elephant doctrine I will be dead?

That's so stupid for a game like CoH

Elephant is not doctorinal unit like ISU-152.

Also you can flank it like soviet tanks need to flank axis tanks. (Like said in every Axis armor is OP thread)

elephant is doctrinal now.

I found that in a vacuum the ISU-152 was pretty crappy vs panthers but you never fight units in a vacuum :P

No, I never said that you have to use the Elephant. I was using it as an example of different roles of different weapons on the battlefield.

All I'm saying is that the ISU-152 is very easy to take out if it is not guarded well. I don't think it is op because of its cost and its inability to fight at closer range. The ISU-152 has its strengths of course, but it also has many weaknesses as well.

On big open maps it is pretty OP. On the 2v2 maps with tons of open ice to cross you can stick an ISU152 on one side and shoot clear across the map and instagib tanks/infantry alike.

On smaller maps and probably most 1v1's its not so great since its very clumsy and slow.

QFT, not gamebreaking in any way, unlike HT Flamer or other more important imbalances

No skill unit.

Let it on field, it fires on EVERYTHING and is OP against EVERYTHING. I just lost 2 vet 3 4 men grens in ONE shot.

--> no need to manage it, AUTOFIRE will do the job for you.

It fires over destroyed buildings.

1 shot : no more unit on field.

Elephant =
. antitank ONLY (very usefull) BUT killable (AT, Guards, Bombing run, T34 can do the job).

Thx relic for that most ever shity unit.
