I feel like most of you average players don't take advantage of the ability when playing OKW. Then again I can be wrong.

Not just Pavlovs house, a lot of maps have these. Even La Glase still has the salvageable AT gun wrecks. Rails and Metal has salvageable panthers etc.

I'm surprised by this, as Relics blog post stated that they "Tested, tested, tested" before release.

It's an overlook, but it's really not their fault.

There are only a few wrecks that can be placed in the worldbuilder that can't be salvaged. Every vehicle in the game has a corresponding wreck entity that replaces it upon death, and these are the wrecks that people have to work with. However, mixed in with these wrecks there are decorative wrecks that I assume were used for single player scenarios, and these ones aren't salvageable and provide cover. (With the exception of a panther wreck, which has no hitbox or cover, so units will just phase through it like it's not there.) The problem is that there are only a few models. A Panzer 3, a Sherman, and I think a Panzer 4.

It was the same way in CoH1. I remember being really happy with a number of maps that I'd created then realized I'd created an infinite muni maps for Wehrmacht. There are a bunch of great wreck models in CoH1 that I was sad didn't make it to CoH2.

Reducing the health of the wrecks to 1 IIRC was a workaround, but a single bullet destroyed the wreck. Which can potentially be remedied by increasing the armor of the wreck to like 400. I'd have to test that.

It should be. It definitely should be. After those fierce and fool proof QA measures at Relic,I'm 100% sure that these are intentional. Just like the spawn point which USF units get stuck, it's an infantry map for them. Map makers might make mistakes, but the AQ-as Relic claims- is intense so the only logical conclusion is, wrecks are working as intended.

I use it! I salvage everything (mortars, AT guns, mgs, etc.) Its really underrated and good if used properly. However it should be addressed with map wrecks as it gives OKW an edge on some maps and nothing on others, making it not an even game.

For me it´s like a too high risk, because the unit salvaging is vulnerable at that time just for a bit of fuel . Atleast against good players it´s not worth the risk, against not so good players you don´t need those ressources anyway...

The things that are worth the risk are at-guns and teamweapons, oh and of course the light vehicles you destroy behind your side of the front.

You can´t realy blame the mapmakers or the QA for those wrecks on the map. If you are creating a map and decide to make it look like a battleworn area there is not so much too choose from...

I don´t like maps that looks like a battlefield already before the battle starts, I like maps that look like nice little villages where people would spend their holidays, until the fight is over and the place is scorched earth... but thats just my personal kind of flavour..

what is the question? is it "are salvageable wrecks an oversight?" or "are salvageable wrecks intended?"

The question is if it's imbalanced or not.

I assume its more of a problem with the salvage doctrine which gives you a bit more than the 5 fuel out of the wreck. I don´t have it - so I can´t tell how much you get.
