VonIvan didn't really sum anything. The usual gifs/youtube videos with little purpose.
Little purpose? They say a picture is a 1000 words. But what about a vid/gif? Priceless.
Oh and btw, if you wanna see something of little purpose, try dis on for size:
There's a difference

For me the normal ladder games are really satisfying. I'm already waiting until I can have my day at server after work today. Maybe it is because I can manage to play 9-12 hours / week only.
Also in other games, let's say CS:GO (please don't hang me for this), there isn't usually that big changes ahead. It's usually new maps. For that reason I'm a bit surprised that in this community people are always needs something to look forward.
Don't get me wrong though, I welcome especially all patches and big tournaments (even though I won't participate on those) since they are good for the community and for the game in general.

How many times has the competitive landscape been so bleak? Absolutely nobody is organizing any tournaments at all right now. We've all been waiting for 6 months for Relic & ESL to say something concrete about this "partnership." I'm just thankful that Dr. Wachs stepped up and gave us something awesome to host in December. 22 thousand unique viewers is not to be scoffed at. I'd like to see us build on that momentum instead of just let it fall flat on its face. There should always be multiple events going on, hosted by multiple organizations.
Relic/ESL needs to announce some details about this mysterious $18k tourney series.

CS:GO has tons of events going on all the time! I'm talking about competitive events, not DLCs. Players practice for them and develop new strats. The ladder is more active, streamers are more active. Casters and fans get organized and hyped up to watch the competition. When an event (tourney) is on the horizon, the whole mood around here changes for the better. That's what I'm talking about when I say there is absolutely nothing on the horizon.

I 100% agree Ami. And since you are arguably the game's most famous and well known advocate of Coh2 from the fanbase, I am wondering what efforts you as the admin of the most important fansite for this game is doing/has done with communication with Relic on this matter?
If that sounds accusatory, I apologize. I don't mean it that way. Just trying to get a handle on where this site's admin's relationship stands right now with Relic. I rarely see posts from you, NTD, Hicksi, Marcus or Seb on anything. I realize it takes 2 to communicate, but TBH, I see as many or more posts from Relic developers here on this site than I do from the site founders.
Just an observation.

Well said Ami! I get the impression that Relic is scrambling...Peter would not have hosted the first Relic stream of 2015 if they had someone else to step into his place. I am really nervous for the game with his departure, especially considering the supposed e-sports ambitions Relic has for the game. They keep mentioning that the multiplayer player base is the most "active and engaged" of their core audience, and yet how they prioritize content doesn't match up with this line of thinking.
If this E-sports ambition is going to make any sort of progress, COH2 is going to have to hit the ground running with its first event. I am actually really pleased to see them dedicate a significant amount of time to fixing bugs, as the game can't really make competitive strides in a buggy state. I just hope they expand the number of strategic options when they finally do get around to putting together a balance patch (GET RID OF THE STALE CALL IN META!)

Big competitions are good for the game and keeps people pumped. Also I would appreciate bug fixes and also looking into the current meta.

Nuff said.
Well said Von, accurately summed up hype vs. reality. The usual gifs/videos that speak volumes.

This. The thing that got my attention was Greg saying: CoH2 is accessible for most players in ways of understanding what is happening". I have never thought about this. He is right, when you observe a MOBA game you have to first master the game to understand what the hell is happening. But as he said, when you see a tank attacking infantry you can understand what is going on and who is gonna win.
They have to use this to their advantage, start big competitions with reasonable prize pool and keep this game alive. Making the game F2P in a year or so, despite having a lot of challenges, would be a good move IMO. I remember they once said that they have a five year plan for CoH2.
RTS games are challenging and hard to master compared to games like LoL and they become boring for many players. But blizzard could keep SC franchise alive and going. I know we can't compare Relic with blizzard and CoH2 with SC2, but they can learn from them (I'm sure they do study other companies' policies).

That is a horrible idea. Most "free" to play games becomes riddled with "pay-to-win" DLC and in reality are far from free. We are many people who charged a lot of money for this game, are you saying that when they finally fix all the bugs and balance and make this game enjoyable, they will make it free, basically making us paying customers beta-testers?

I think you hear very little because any attempt at conversation with Relic is a bog and a frustrating letdown. I know absolutely nothing, but it is still the impression I get from streams where it feels like AmericanPoliceRadio has more to say but bites his tongue.
It is certainly not my impression that Ami does anything except everything possible.

I always read that as "Lands of Lore" - does that make me old?

Yeah me too. My question/observation was poorly stated. Mea culpa.

Expect:
1- Doctrine selection in a pre-round match, maybe with Doctrine ban which will leave some factions short of possibilities
2- specialisation and dedication for each player: Rusher, Point holder, Early support, Carry etc...
3- Creeps? Wave of Ostruppen, Cons and RE echelon to grin your Cap points.
4- No more Victory points, only annihilation. Prepare yourself to speak German only.
Wait for the fight for being the one carry of the team. "-KT Carry or feed" or "-Fuck Noob Amy Carry with your weak M36, I leave the game".
Gonna be fun! Can't wait.

I can't speak for Ami but in my experience before Relic tell you anything about upcoming projects you have to complete a hand signed, physical NDA. So any communication you have with Relic beyond their social media channels you can't share with the community at large.
While I was still in charge of the ESL sections for Company of Heroes 2 I asked for an interview about their aspirations for this new partnership. It took three months for me to get a response of "we're not ready to talk about it."

I still like their old art style. I like CoH being gritty as well as that Red accent they used so much.
