Does anyone know exactly how Steam depot items work? Is it likely that each of those entries is in fact a new item of content, and it's not just a red herring like them being Achievements or suchlike?

Usually when I see these things for other games there are fewer of them, but they are indeed pieces of DLC, as well as beta applications, demos, etc.

With Jagdtiger and Jagdpanzer 4 being there?

Makes as much sense as adding early version of T34/76.

Only in Katitofland.

Would an early version of the T-34/76 be any more useful than the normal T-34/76 or 85? No.

Would a Jagdpanther be more useful than a Jagdpanzer IV? Certainly.

Would a Jagdpanther be more useful than a Jagdtiger? That's more debatable, but arguably so. If you want a much better combination of firepower and mobility then yes; if you just want to leave it in one place and fire across the map then no.

Your example is an extremely poor one.

I would take the Jadgpanther any day over the Jadgtiger. A more apt comparison would be "Why add a model of t34 in between the 85 and 76? Which they should totally do btw.
