2) They are for a european publication. Europeans (except the french ) have stronger stomachs than Australians and Americans/Canadians.

1) They are very hard to discern.

stronger stomachs my stomachs just fine
i however don't think this should be something that is glorified. Given that it would be a war crime in the hands of any one else but the soviets. (and perhaps any allied nation.)
now imagine if they portrayed the Germans Soldiers doing this in the background how much uproar there would be.

Putting WW2 German soldiers (Nazi or not) doing bad things, horrible things, ain't seen as wrong: its seen as usual. Now, portray a WW2 German soldier heroically killing soviets... meh. Portray him killing allied soldiers. Whoooooosh. Permaban.
By the way, I don't have eagle eyes, but that doesn't necessarily look like german soldier. It could be a portrayal of decimation (Officers killing their own soldiers).

The unmentioned wider issue is the potential problem that western culture has a love affair with violence on telly. Because that's what makes it exciting. (I don't have an axe to grind here, just putting it out there).
And Lastly, in no way do I agree with the 'violence in video games/television causes kids to shoot up schools' nonsense argument. I digress.

on a side note i would like to point out the current medial conditioning, when an American points a gun at someone he is being righteous and saving his country(automatic response) but when you see a soviet or nazi suddenly they are savages and such things are horrific

When you see prisoners with guns to their heads in movies it's because it's part of a fucking depressing story about war or something, not because they're trying to sell you a video game magazine with a sweet story about the latest RTS.
Well, no. Depends on how you define 'prisoner'. If you include people that are held captive - say for example, the hero of the story or his mrs - before an escape, then they can have guns to their heads. This was the wider view that I was taking.
If you define it as prisoners of war, then yes, I take your point.
