You must be referring to the KwK 43 L/71 on the King Tiger. The KwK 36 L/56 on the Tiger I does only 160 damage.

yeah, relic generally goes with bigger guns do more damage but, like most things, they're not very consistent. it's not entirely a matter of balance either, you could be more realistic and still have it work fine.

This is true but you know big list of units that need love first, then look at numbers after every unit has a role and is viable.

Soviets had the zis-2 57mm which was comparable to the pak 40 in terms of armor penetration, but for some reason relic decided to give the soviets a zis-3.

Probably because production of the ZiS-3 Field Gun was 10x higher than production of the ZiS 2, with 100k guns made compared to 10k guns made. And the game isn't realistic anyway, like the Panzer IV Ausf. G / J having roughly equal penetration to the T-34/76 and M4A3, or with identical weapons having very different stats, etc. A good example is the Pak 43, which is used in an Emplacement, on the Elefant, and on the Tiger II, yet is completely different on each unit.

Shtrafbat: a interesting unit that i wish did more, I would jump up and down for joy if they got fixed. At one point the Satchel charge's AOE got nerfed and it feels just lackluster now.
Since they are a close range "Suicide" squad some more armor would do these guys some good with a slight cost increase as well.

Bodyarmor on a suicide squad? I don't even....

I support this, would really help them out and make a good screening squad.

I wish for a new commander that would kinda focus on them.

Penal squads aren't suicide squads any more than say rifles, grens or any other infantry in game is. The flavor text/speech is just misleading and they should just call them something else so people stop bringing this up

yeah but the only thing preventing relic from fixing it all in a huge patch is themselves. with a proper beta (ie. use player feed back, not ignore it or do the opposite) 90% of the balance issues would be easily fixed.

I am not so sure, A lot of people have a funny idea what 'Balance' is.

Yes... just like the Ostwind being non-doctrinal and the T-34-85 and IS-2 being doctrinal... yeah... totally...

At least with the Elefant and PaK43, my impression has been they both do roughly the same damage (or at least wipe off half my tanks health equally effectively...
