Let's create the Coh2.org community's official mod !!!!

We have already a pretty good consensus of what change are needed and of what can be done with the mod tool. If the mod become very popular, maybe Relic would consider of including it or part of it in the core game.
View it as an edge toward Relic !
I know that with the great minds and talents of all the people here it's something very achievable.
The forum of COH2.org would be the focus where the playtest is discussed.
First we have to review our consensus of the change needed;
Second, we make the mod;
Third, we playtest it and discuss about it;
Fourth, we tune it;
Fifth, we make a 1vs1 tournament;
Sixth, we have fun and are proud our ourselves !
I think this would be less depressing than waiting for Relic to speak to us.
Let do something for ourselves !!!
I know that some of the people here know how to make mods, some others know about maps and there others that are great at putting people together.
We just need people to come forward and tell us what they can and would do for the project.
I think that would be a lot more constructive and fun than venting sadness in the forum...
Lets go !!!
What do you think of it ?

It won't be a story of how one company's game grew a large modding community that improved upon a great product and attracted so many people that it grew into a competitive sport (like Starcraft). It would be about how one company was so slow and produced such lack luster game fixes that the community gave up on them and did it themselves.

I propose to use an iterative approach :
1- We making a few changes; (starting with the most critical and where the consensus it large)
2- We test it in all game modes;
3- We discuss it here;
4- We tune it as needed; (the meta must be improved or at least preserved, the fun factor improved or the change is not good)
5- We then go back to 1
I propose to segment the change in 3 tiers:
First tier : (Those that will be included in the first versions of the mod)
The most critical and urgent changes where the consensus is large.
Important changes needed where the consensus is large.
Nice to have where the consensus is large.
Second tier : (Important change you see, but for which we don't have a large consensus)
The most critical and urgent changes where the consensus in progress.
Important changes needed where the consensus is in progress.
Nice to have where the consensus is in progress.
Third tier :
Ideas of change not yet discussed enough.
Proposition of new units to be added.
Change that impact some game mode more then others.
E.t.c
First we have to rank the most critical change needed to be included in the first version of the mod.
So try to figure in which tier your propositions should be placed.

let's do it!!! mass democracy, and socialism!! I love it!!!
You know what happens with true democracy and socialism.
Nothing ever gets decided leading to rise of politicians who try to sabotage reputation of others, into dictatorship and eventually gulags and imprisonment for enemies of people.

My opinion about this: if more people just started to play Kappatch it would be a nice start I think. Kappatch is a shot in the good direction (for competetive play).

It would be embarrassing for Relic if the community had to mod their game to make it competitive or even flat out work properly years after it released. And then started tournaments(that Relic wanted to start)that actually attracted people to a balanced multiplayer.

It's not something unprecedented, see Elite mod for DoW2: retribution, while dow2 is dead, ELITE has monthly tournaments with cash prizes.

This is a brilliant idea and a good initiative.

But there are certain points you have to consider when starting with such a project;
Firstly;
The problem with creating a mod with a large group (as you propose here, with everyone of the community), is that it's nearly impossible to create a mod where everyone agrees.
That's why you should get some guys together and create it, but not with such a large group.
Secondly;
Let's say you make the ultimate competitive mod, it maybe gets played a few times yes, but as it is not possible to play automatch with that mod, nor is the custom games list clear enough to find a game with that mod, it's nearly impossible to have a large group playing the mod on a regular basis.
I quote Stafkeh;
I played Kappatch once, I liked it but I dont know anyone else that use it
My opinion about this: if more people just started to play Kappatch it would be a nice start I think. Kappatch is a shot in the good direction (for competetive play).
This is absolutely true and will also happen with another good mod.
So - Great idea, we're also making a competitive mod, BUT all that effort will go into oblivion because there is no platform to use it regularly.

(We're already working on a 100% competitive mod with the Rewind Team.)

The problem with a smaller group instead of everyone is that in the end only the small group will be using it.
