You are right and wrong at the same time.

The test sample, in this case, is in fact, too small. A Test sample needs be somewhere ~1.000 to be accurate.

If you have a sample of ~1k then every other sample higher than that, 10k, 100k will change or deviate the 1k statistic by roughly x<2% (at most, it's actually closer to 0 < x < 1 ).

How can you just pull a number like that if you don't know the total number of players?

for all those that say this statistic doesnt prove anything. just imagine an extreme result. imagine if the numbers were 80% win ratio for one faction? would that prove something? its a great statistic, all those measurement problems you mention equally apply on all factions, and by choosing only the top 200 the measurement successfully evades l2p problems and focuses mostly on the real balance of the game mechanics. if someone says that maybe the soviet 200 players are better than 200 OKW players its a pure assumption and no argument, the pure number of 200 people on such a small playerbase is proof enough that they are ~equally skilled and played almost the equal amount of games.

Balance might be close but enjoyment isn't. Each faction has a few build orders and strategies that you can use. Then you have loads of useless/overpriced/underpowered units that are never seen.

this game is a lot more balanced than you guys think. the problem is that there arent that many high skill (no offense) 3v3 and 4v4 players. quite frankly a lot of the talent and skill in the player pool is focused in 1v1s and 2v2s, so 3v3s and 4v4s can become lopsided matches. axis is 'easier' to play at lower skill levels, but there are a lot of things allies can use to leverage superiority, however a lot of players dont realize this. the axis have to do several things to stay relevant and keep map presence, and its up to the allied players to be prevent them from doing said things, and exploiting them afterwards.

3vs3 and 4vs4 will never be balanced, in those games you are to much relied upon the general IQ or depths of stupidity that is called your "teammate".

For this to be true, all the stupid people would need to be playing Allies

Random Teamates should random out over time

And Lemon hits upon a possible reason; though these stats are about the top 200 players; so "lower skill" in this context is somewhat relative

be flexible, learn the timings of important units so you know when to prepare for them, know how to control your units in the first engagement to maximum efficiency, know how to quickly destroy the schwerer hq so the okw player cant bring a fast luchs and produce obers to carry him. i could go on and on and on about this, it would be too long for just this post.

This x100
Axis and allied late game can go eather way, The team that i play with it comes down to a match by match basis, There are plenty of games that i remember when we were playing allies and were down 200 vp and under 50 and pulled it off in a 50+ min game.
Frantic chump blocking of VP's and desperate attacks sometimes is enough.

Then there are the games VS axis were you see 3x JT 5x panther and a TA.
And because of TEAMWORK because all 4 of you medium spammed you just wait until positioning is in your favor and you exploit it.

It can get pretty crazy on both sides of the fence.

I would love to know if Relic has stats for map.
Map, initial spawn and combination of factions (in case of teamgames) is a huge factor.

It's not the same playing Langres as allies (or in North), Kholodny on east, Stalingrad as Axis, Semoisky as OH againts USF or as USF and someone cheesing blocking truck + reinforced barbwire, Rhzev winter on north or as axis, Trois point, Hurtgen Forest...

Rostov.. south spawn as axis, Rush 3-4x kubel to bridges have 1 okw truck block the lower bridge and the other lay reinforced wire and bam city yours unless they pull off a great flank though the island VP.

Rostov is seriously a BS map, it has that expoit as axis, (There is another one invovling a med truck rush across the river) and allies can exploit it by FHQ spamming.

but if 4v4 was equal, then why the huge gap in win rates? It seems far-fetched to say Allies are just more noob and less skilled

Almost every game I played, stats showing what axis are inflicting MORE damage. The timings are for them are funny too - you always outnumbered at key locations. And then it come to reinforce you squads - again axis units are cheaper or same cost. This is balanced, right?
Allies got crappy units with some fuel starved upgrades to start shinig and you must play a violin, sing a song and clicking like a Boxer to just PUSH BACK axis. Not inflicting mp drain, oh boy, all tha you must do just to force them to push "Retreat" button.
On the otherside, axis players just siegheil a-clik, then they are suppresed by MIGHTY allies mgs - just crawl to mg and able to throw a grenade for half of screen. And then it comes to Pzs - they just lolsmoked from danger.

One more thing about so BALANCED here. Axis got command tank with aura for WHOLE sector to block % of damage. Does allies got some aura stuff for whole sector to counter this?

Yep I know about sov's "Mark target" and captains "On me".

Three years of this game are showing only one - guys that are playing as axis always complaing or saying that game are BALANCED.

Late game is still Axis tilted. Mid game is alright. Early game is alright.

I thought they were soo hard to play.

*Meanwhile I have a 12 win streak with OKW

Ok, as you brag about your stats: going from W/L 10/10 to 22/10 and still only being just gelow rank 700 shows what pros you must have faced in your last 12 games :snfCHVGame:

I think people need to consider that more people are playing OKW and USA because they are newer. In the "Games Played" section both those factions have nearly 10,000 more games played each than Sov/Wehr.

In my experience with RTS games, it takes years for a metagame to really stabilize. WF has been out for a little while now, but not long enough for the new factions to stop having that new car smell and for people to really understand the nuance of playing/fighting them with the old ones. (imo)
