A suggestion regarding staff

Just a quick suggestion on something I feel Gaming sites with staff usually lacks. For newer players/forum lurkers/forum warriors etc. the roles of the staff is not often explained (unless you happen to read a "we're recruiting!" news post) a good idea would to be in some way to explain what staff member do and give links to their profiles for PM'ing questions and such that doesn't fit on the forums. For example having a "staff" button for people to access and see who got what role on staff and what those roles do. I think it might make the site more accessible and make it easier to understand the structuring of the site. Only backside I guess would be that it would take up space and time to fix.

Anyway, just wanted to leave that suggestion for you to consider. :)

Could make a topic for staff recruitment that can be opened and closed when recruitment takes place as well. But an area where there is a brief description of each position would be nice I agree.

We'll have an automatically updating list of staffers eventually, it's supposedly easy to create but it's low on the priorities right now.

It's a nice idea and I always felt GR lacked it, a fast way to check an updated staff list.

+2, Yeah. I believe Seb had one that the staff could see but it stopped auto updating itself. Which was great shame.

unfortunately, it never updated itself :-P seb had a script that grabbed info from a thread and created an output that he posted in another thread (if i understood that correctly).

also: list of staff would be soooo easy to do, yet GR never managed to do it.

There was a list of staff autogenerated by GR, it just wasn't linked anywhere you could easily find it and it didn't include global admins (like myself/ami/ami) in the coh staff group.

Also an idea would be to somewhere point out that it is volunteer work and write some kind of segment about the "benefits" (in lack of a better word) of being on staff. Heard earlier that a problem on GR at least had been people not understanding what staff work is and therefore applying for the wrong reasons (moneeey™)

Would maybe make recruiting a bit easier. :)

Well for a volunteer position, there isn't much benefits other than enjoying the job you do or the content you create :P
