Have Guard Rifles aged well?

From when the game came out, to the current patch now, what is everyones thoughts on guards. Fond memmories when they were only 1cp.

I plan on trying new tactics until conscripts stop having there annoying receaved acc % on them.

They are not very good, but have some uses here and there. Going T1 means that you will probably need guards to cover you form light vehicles. Button is ok in some situations but got nerfed hard. They cost a lot to reinforce and take a long time to reinforce as well. I use the, every game though because i go ISU nearly all the time

as an axies player im always glad to see guards because it means i dont have to deal with shocks.
as a soviet player i hardly ever use them.
they do okish vs standard units but unless you can land one of their pretty good grenades they will bleed you for a lot of manpower vs good infantery.
they have their use vs light vehicles if you spend the extra mun and button is still nice to have but to me its not worth it.
light vehicles can also be fought with anit tank nades and mines if you dont have a zis available.

Sounds like relic still hasent changed there cost (or renforcement cost) to there performance. Damn shame.

Guards are more accurate with mosins than any other squad, and their DP-28´s do good dps, but....they turn to weapon pinatas and trying to stay at long range for the dps is just asking for an rifle grenade/mg suppression



Maybe their VET will save them, but they will get outgunned by Obersoldaten if there is any...


( their mosin is "almost" as good as Gren Kar 98k

They would be a bit better if the player could choose to buy PTRS and/or DP lmg for ammo, like in Theater of War missions.

The problem with that idea is that everyone would just buy DP-28 since PTRS is useless.

If gaurd drops their PTRS currently, it's actually a good thing for them because they gain quite a bit of anti infantry for that.

i think they are still one of the best infantry soviets have to offer. combined with fighting positions, guards are quite devastating against okw but fail badly against grens.

dont get me wrong, they need help definitely, maybe dp get fotm, better squad ai so they dont jump all over the place when ordered to attack. also they could be a little more tankier, like a innate 15% reduction in received accuracy fresh.

Guards rely too much in heavy cover and DP's to be effective. They are good against early light vehicles and to support your tanks against enemy tanks, but as button is near to useless I wouldn't recommend them right now.
And they are, as already stated, walking weapon boxes.

Why they were nerfed? Soviets don't have any other AT inf...

They were really useful with button ability to support AT guns and tanks, now they are broken and useless. Button don't work at all on Panthers and when I used it on a Pz IV it killed 4 of 6 of my Guards models with the first shot, because tanks can now shoot while buttoned.

They don't deserve to be a call-in unit in the current state, compared to Shock Troops...
