Does VISION affect howitzer accuracy?

Allot of people say you have to have vision over the area you want to hit with artillery to get good accuracy. Meaning that if you fire at a stationery target (ex: okw panzer headquarters) you have a better chance of hitting it while you have vision versus firing into the fog of war at the same spot. Is there a modifier that does that or is this just a misconception?

I am pretty sure that if you have vision the targeting circle of some arty pieces gets smaller.
But to add to the Question:
If thats the case, do you need continous vision, or only when you start the barrage? Does it work only for barrages or also for groundtargeting and autofire?

Scatter angle and distance are both multiplied by 1.25 for shots fired into fog of war.

Damn. So having vision really helps.
Does that apply to the inital barrage, like you see a spot, you start the barrage and fire a few shots, and move away - will it still fire at the same accuracy? Or is it calculated for each shot if the spot can be seen?

Woah, I did not know that. Very handy information. I'll try to get eyes on targets whenever I use howitzers from now on.

It pretty much always did.
Even scatter circle changes depending on the LOS of target area so its surprising to see this thread if you can so easily post it yourself.

so accuracy is reduced by 25% when firing into fog of war?

No, it'll be reduced by a lot more than 25% because you are increasing the radius of the area where rounds can hit, and that's a cubic function.
As for whether barrage checks only at start of ability or for every individual shot: no clue, though if I had to make a guess I'd say it'll check every shot.

I knew that firing into the fog of war made indirect fire weapons more inaccurate (that's pretty much a given), but by how much was what I was wondering.

Thanks that clarifies things.
Just to highlight another important question:
