Crew vs vehicle veterancy

I've noticed as US forces my tank crews and actual vehicle itself can have different veterancy levels. How does that work exactly? Is crew veterancy any good when in the tank?

Its based on numbers. Ex. this unit has 2000 XP. Vehicle crews gain vet easily so they'll get vet 3 fast. They gain vet 1 or 2 from killing a model lol.

And a tank needs more than 2000 xp to be vet 3. So when in the tank, the crew with 2000xp only qualifies for vet 1, even though on foot they're vet 3.

Ok, so the crew definitely contributes to vehicle vet (which is what really matters), but since a tank requires so much xp to level up, even a vet3 crew might only give vehicle vet1 if that. Thanks!

Vehicle crews vet up ridiculously fast. They might as well just make them start with vet 3.

Higher tire tank more exp is needes for a higher vet. Take them out of a vet 3 m20 might only be a vet 1 sherman .(depending on exp earned)
