"I should have joined the navy" Sergeant Schultz muttered for the 15th time that day as he moved along with the rest of the Herman Goering FallschirmPanzer Division

Their Mission was to contain an attack by the 12th Guards Rifle Corps threatening the integrity of the front line defences.

The Americans had managed to bypass several strongpoints in the frontline. Corps Command was in a panick and a kampfgruppe hastily stiched together to try and halt the advance.

With the Panzer Lehr rampaging across the front and halting American assaults the 1st Armoured Division is ordered to put a stop to it.

Air support and other elite elements were moved in to assist as the Panzer Lehr was spotted around a small village.

Speaking of the German boobytraps, I've heard that the Germans would remove the internal fuse device from their Stielhandgranaten and leave them behind. If an unsuspecting allied soldier attempted to use one of these grenades, it would explode instantly.

Never heard about that one before. Got a source ?

Reports had come in that the 2nd Panzer Division's attack had stalled due to a lack of fuel and was currently strung out and exposed.

The 3rd armoured was ordered to move and do as much damage as possible if not outright destroy it.

Sure, there's an article that mentions it here. It's also mentioned in the preview for this book (click "Page 29" in that link, I don't know how to link the actual page) .

Well fancy that always fun to learn more :

They'd been marching for most of the day as the men of Captain Meier made their way to their positions. Their trucks had broken down the day before and replacements could not be found.

But the assault had to be made. The fatherlan depended on them.

Glad to see that. And that is the plan.

3rd Armoured Advanced down the roads, all going as planned until the first sherman lit on fire like fireworks as the munitions was cooked off.

An Ambush, and the 2nd Panzer Division struck relentlessly. Who would be the victor of this battle ?

Orders were to take the village at all costs. As it was reported to be the centre of the 5th Infantry Divisions operations.

The Panzer Lehr was tasked with gathering what men and equipment it could from nearby units as well and commence an attack.

3 days. 3 days they had already clashed over this village. The 3rd SS Had sent in wave after wave of Fanatical Panzergrenadiers but the village had yet to be yielded to them.

The Soviet guardsmen who held the village were just as determined and zealous if not more.

This was not a battle with a neat outcome.

After an unusually harsh winter night the men of the Grossdeutschland roused themselves and prepared themselves for an attack on the village ahead of them. Doing their best to wake up their Panzers.

The men of the brandenburger division had been ordered to advance through what was presumed to be a lightly defended sector and push through to flank the Soviets.

The Presumption was wrong

The 2nd Infantry Division had made good gains in the initial stages of the assault and was waiting for the 3rd Armoured Division to arrive to further exploit them.

But the Führer Grenadier Brigade had been scrambled to throw the American infantrymen back.

Who would succeed ?

Several days of fighting without respite and the Kampfgruppe wolf was finally given a chance to pull back for resting and refitting.

But Stavka had other plans as they launched another assault forcing the Kampfgruppe back in action.

The confines of the city were near claustrophobic as they were littered with the rubble of days of fighting. Sergeant Wolf looked over his Grenadiers, already worn from days of fighting.

They had to succeed now or he doubted they could keep on fighting.

They had been stalling the Russian advance for as much as they could with minimal losses. But as it were they had to make a stand no matter the cost as the other divisions were having a hard time retreating in the bad weather. So it fell to the Panzergrenadier Division Feldhernhalle to halt the Soviet advance. For now.

Lacking a clear idea of the exact positioning of the enemy. A small kampfgruppe was sent ahead with orders to scout out and potentially push back the enemy if their numbers were small enough.

Lieutenant Daniels looked at the map. This couldn't be right. He was supposed to be at some small Belgian village. Not in the middle of nowhere. The Germans removing all roadsigns had not helped things though.

And to make matters worse. A column of Panzers arrived at more or less the same time as him and his men.
