Vet them up with the mg34, since it's easier and effective at both mid and long distance, and once at vet 3, upgrade to stg.

It's a strong upgrade, plus the doctrine is so useful with the Infiltration Grenades, and of course the Artillery Flare -- time and again I'm convinced how critically important any recon ability is for flanking game.

The biggest advantage of the STG-44 is that they ignore cover. No cover bonuses against Infared STG-44s.

Just stay in green cover and watch them do their jobs.

I had triple vetted Tommy Paras flank an STG44 IR ober squad....needless to say it did not go well...

They can wipe small squads really fast, and they seem to be super accurate against retreating squads. However, it's pretty rare to see in 1v1..

It is not that good now you are better off going with the mg and stay at a distance.

Would be a cool feature if the STG44 upgrade gave Obers stealth in cover ability. Something to really make them feel different to just grabbing the LMG.

Not even worth building anymore. Almost everyone I know builds OKW doc. inf. and completely skips obers. 2 have a at option so it really comes down to what is effective and obers are not cost effective anymore.

Was about to post a new thread when I saw this one. Are these worth getting in the current patch? I understand they're very potent at close range but that seems like the last place you want Obers in the first place.

Asking from a 2v2 perspective.

I don't get one thing i know obers were nerfed hard i mean damage should been to 7 from 8 instead of 6 from 8...But damage nerf to stg44 from 8 to 6..really.. i mean really...they cost more,should be helpful as it is doctrine weapon like 1919,and they don't have suppression like lmg.Stg44 should have 8 damage.

Dont worry Obers get suppression from their VET, its just a hard task to keep them alive until then
