But what about the commanders and bulletins???
What ever commanders and bulletins are in Loadout 1 will be chosen for the next game, so you pre-select them, its so easy

Bah, I thought it would be completely random. I guess you select the preset loadouts for each faction and play with any random faction of your favorite loadout.

They could just have a system where you can tick each army you're okay with playing. So like:
☑ Red Army
☐ Ostheer
☑ Oberkommando West
☑ US Forces

The random-army-button would have been great now (with 2 factions), but with 4 factions this is the way to go imo.

Never understood why it hasn't been in there from the start. I'd happily play Germans all day, but given a choice I'd rather go Soviets because I can get a match easier...
It hasn't been in there from the start, because it makes little sense with just two factions. If you are searching Ostheer and the Ostheer search percentage is over 50%, you can simply switch factions, and vice versa.

this would be nice, hopefully they add it but tbh i wouldn't get my hopes up.

I would I have always played random in CoH1, however I never ever wanted to bother playing as British. This system avoid that.

Reminds me that Sandland specifically did not have Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor installed, just so he could random with only US and Wehrmacht.
