Anybody heard anything about this movie? It's about a Sherman tank and her crew.

Stars Brad Pitt, Shia LeBeouf, Logan Lerman, set for November release.

IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2713180/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_1

If you are an armor enthusiast I don't see how you can not be excited about this film. Not only have they put together a large number of Shermans but they managed to get the only operating German Tiger into this film.

looks exciting, problem is they're going to fuck it up by either
-include unnecessary females roles because of femminazi's and 'muh generic heroine female roles'(see : stalingrad 2013, all modern Disney films, etc etc etc)

-dumb it down historical-wise to appeal to the masses, afterall it's a blockbuster with brad pitt and shia labouf
(see: every major grossing war film ever) minus a couple that received cult status

- The Tiger tank they are using is an early version, which did not fight during the time the movie story is set up. However they are using at least a real tiger, so its a huge progress towards past war movies and im looking forward to it.

- The movie is already ruined by the plot, which takes place in april 1945. There is not much tension, when you know, that the Wehrmacht is already down to its knees. I mean Brad pitt shooting Wehrmacht remains and Volksturm, old men and young boys, thats not heroic.

- Labouf didnt wash himself, because a tank veteran told him they had no chance to do so during the war. He was criticised heavily due to the smell inside the tank by his crew members (Brad pitt ect.) xD

- Movie was filmed in england and germany. (Bovington tank museum, the tiger is from, is in england)

- There is a similar movie coming up soon "Brothers in arms" directed by Denzel Washington. The story is about the 761st tank battalion, the only black tank unit in europe, during battle of the bulge and the Siegfried line.

One of the shoots for this was about 5 miles from my house - there was some fuss on Rememberance Sunday beacuse they were shooting a battle scene that day with lots of actors in German uniforms and apparently this upset the locals (a cynic might suspect this story was deliberate PR).

The Tiger was captured in North Africa so is an early one but since its the only working one in the world (and conveniently housed a couple of hours from the set - I saw it in action last year) this can't be helped.

Also a bit mystified about the angle the story will take given the late war period but will definitely go see it - lets hope Shia goes under a track or gets trapped in his tank when it cooks up.

I'm not particularly a fan of Shia but I'm wondering where all the—somewhat humourous—enmity is coming from.

I don't see too many problems with an Early model Tiger, surely the Germans would want every tank they could get in the fighting? So a Tiger certainly wouldn't be something they'd place in storage...

It is not so much, germans not using them due to not being up to scratch, but more, we won't use them cuz they are all either blown up, or have been salvaged for newer models.
