Top games of 2012 were:

- Spec Ops: The Line
This game has mindfucked me beyond belief and I doubt I'll ever be able to play a military shooter again without getting sick. Narratively the most interesting game made in years.

- XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Yay turn-based tactics. It had some issues, like the horribly implemented RNG, bugs and the not-too-cleverly designed action management, but whatever, it had me gripped like all hell, it's (mostly) challenging without being unfair and it's got a great atmosphere.

- Tekken Tag Tournament 2
2012s best fighting game, hands down, and the best Tekken game in years. It's a pain to actually learn properly, but it's still great fun.

- FTL: Faster Than Light
I've spent more time than I should in this little fucker. Challenging, interesting and never quite the same. Also, it's very possible to reliably get through the game once you've figured it out.

Biggest disappointment of 2012:
Street Fighter x Tekken. Although that game is now the best 2D fighter on the market imo due to the patch, on release the game just wasn't fun.
I still play it now though. It's really fun with the system changes and better pace, but it was a massive disappointment on launch.

My most anticipated for 2013 right now are;

Company of Heroes 2-... ^_^

Total War: Rome 2- sequel to one of my most played games ever. I'm so psyked.

Age Of Wonders 3- Age of Wonders 2 is the biggest pearl to be relatively unknown even within the fanbases of hardcore PC gamers. Everything HOMAM should've been. 3 Will probably take over my life.

For a military shooter with a good story (only one major hole!):
Spec Ops: The Line
Just don't come crying to me about the PTSD this game will inflict upon you.

The game Diablo 3 should've been:
Path of Exile
Welcome to Wraeclast. Here you will die. A lot.

The game of shazbot, great speeds and I am the greatest, when will you learn? *inserts shameless ref-link*
Tribes: Ascend

My favorite for a long time has to be AvA (Alliance of Vallient Arms) which is a free first-person shooter game available on steam.

Pretty much like CS but you can buy different weapons permanent.
The good thing about AvA is that every gun is balanced so everyone does not buy the same gun because it's OP.

However the game do have a capsule shop which requires real money to win different weapons. Those weapons are not OP either tho :D
"Play for free, pay to win"...- NOPE!

Check out this guy's channel if it sounds interesting https://www.youtube.com/user/opuim123/videos?flow=grid&view=0

Also been a huge fan of WoW but got a little tired of it..

I had good hopes for the new Sim City game (Perhaps a bit ignorant ofcourse --> EA as publisher..) Sim City 4 was one of my favorite games of all time (I still play it sometimes even 10 yrs after release). I played the beta for 30 minutes and I got pretty much the same thoughts as that guy described in his post. It's EA giving the finger to a dedicated community (they still modded and played the game after 10yrs!) with a children's game. It really is a crossover between Sims 3 and that stupid Facebook city building game. EA is exploiting the long wait for a new SimCity game by selling it for $60/70 and then release this crap. SC4 from 2003!! looks better graphicly then this game from 2013.. I'm glad I didn't pre-order it, and I wouldn't recommend people to buy it. Unless you're a 12yr old that likes to play The Sims and now want to build a town full of 'em.

You're better off buying SC4 for $5 and mod it with all the great content the community made for it ;)

This thread has now been hijacked by Spec Ops-spoilers and you will not get the thread back. I suggest you play the game if you haven't already so that you can open these nice little spoilertags btw.
