Introduction:

This thread is all about to give you some hints&tips to improve. I will put good source links which you should read. First of all let me start with Barton's awesome guide.

yeah yeah.. i know the ToTW is from coh1 , but there is plenty of them which works the same way in coh2.
In the following points, i am trying to talk about those things which arenot in those source files. Be aware that iamnot including everything, only those which was in my mind, however i planned lots of things but i forgot to write down and i forgot half of them to the next day.

Commander choice:

I would write which commanders i usually bring for 1v1 or 2v2. It wont works with everybody,because someone may have other style than me, but who is new in the game, it will help them begin to make their Loadouts.
You could read the forum, which commanders are good, which arenot,but what i can suggest you never use the community made : Defensive commander. There is a good thread about it made by Barton, Commander abilitys feedback. I dont have link but if somebody got it, feel free to share.
Here it goes mine:
Soviet 1v1-2v2 :
Probably only Guards commanders,because i usually spam snipers In case of 80 % it is Guard Motor Coordination Tactic(120mm one) but in 2v2 on specific map where hard to deal with ISUs like Minsk, i bring that. In 1v1 it remains the 120mm one because there will be no mate who brings counter mortal and the self repair is pretty good on m3 or t34-76s, not mention the concentrate all fire power ability which help me kill the p4s and Tiger Ace with t34-76 spam.

Tip: If you spamming soviet snipers and enemy spamming mortals, like you have 4 sniper, then make 2 group for 2-2 sniper so you wont blob them and enemy mortal wont kill all the 4 of them - max 2.
(new BO:1v1_ cons cons cons molotov sniper sniper guards sniper t34 spam 2v2_ sniper sniper sniper (sniper) guards guards t4 katyusha t34-85) <--- it is outdated too, workt well before March 25th. patch, but who knows it may still works, i have no idea.
German 1v1:
I would bring something against soviet snipers, so (Mine is the bold ones)
1#: Jaeger Infatry, Lightning War, or Elite Troops.

Need a commander for that case when the early game doesnot went good and you are lack of fuel(so enemy have tanks before you-in cases more tanks then we probably going to build a pak43 ( it is even good against kv8s-is2s or any heavy tank) ) .
2# Joint Operation, Festung Armor

and for the last commander is for specific times like su85 spam,fast t70, isu,but i am usually able to handle fast t70 so: ( no mention spotting scope is awesome)
3# Elefant Commander ,Redistribute resource.

German 2v2:
My partner is usually playing agressive , so he chooses commanders which he can play agressively. For example: EliteTroops or any g43 commander,Air supperiority,Assault Support.
He will be the player 1. So the player 2. which in case of 99 % is me, is playing defensively, and support the other. ( actually i am the support in soviet too because i wont press attack move with only 4 sniper into FoW)
Mine usually are: Festung Armor, Festung Support,Jaeger Armor,but sometimes i prefer to take spotting scope with howitzer.
I usually bring MHT against maxim mortal spam,you can take the Tiger one, that is even better. + sometimes it is even good against sniper spam too,if RNG god is on your side. (ostruppens are buffed so, the MHT +howitzer with relief infatry is viable now i think.)
I goes to on elefant must have map like Minsk Pocket. And if in the early game i need smoke for tank (!- dont choose smoke for light vehicles, unless it would be a game changer if you lose the tank in the first minutes) then i choose smoke. However actually i never use smoke, because usually i dont need it, and with elefant commander 80 % you will win the endgame, the match)
so:
player 1: g43, smoke,
player 2: howitzer,pak43,elefant,MHT,smoke
(choose one, wisely)
Remember! Dont choose doctrine before at least 2 CP, but i wouldnot mind if you wait until 5 CP,unless you need some ability asap and if you choose commander tell to your mate( see coh1 ToTW).

Build order

1v1:
that isnot really matter , i prefer starting with permutation of 2gren 2 mg(or even +mortal,sniper) then t2 and t3.
And the important is, dont stop teching. For example: you already built a t3 and you have a p4, but the enemy have 3 AT gun, then stop spamming p4s , instead tech to t4 and bring brummbar or nebel. I bet you would just lose the new p4s and for that cost you could have teched to t4 and bring something usefull.
Try not to lose light vehicles, because at every loss , you lose minus 20-30 fuel. (that is +1 minute if you go fast tank)
BOs:
1# 2 gren 2 mg t2 pggren-light vehicle -lategame depending on enemy (t3-t4)
2# 5 gren equip them with g43, then go FHT or fast tank. You can even get 1-2 HMG to secure sectors or call in Tiger tank.
3# fast t2: 3 pioner tech to t2 and bring PGs ( i suggest you once you get the mapcontrol backtech to t1 and bring mg or sniper because enemy will probably make snipers against your PGs) then go for tank.

2v2:
The 2v2 is pretty same with the 1v1 for me,but correct me if i am wrong.
If you want to go full retard and lose the match,then you can try this:
4# PIO PIO PIO PIO PIO PIO PIO .... upgrade flamethrower for them then t4

Maybe new is, if i want to get fast 11 CP for bringing elefant for example, i sometimes do mass infatry like 2 gren 2 mg 1 sniper 1 mortal 2 pggren 1 SC(scope),then always attack the enemy, the casualties doesnot matter because you will get the CP even faster than playing passive, and in lategame i usually dont bring tank instead 1 nebel then elefant call in.
It is pretty outdated but, you can spam basebuilding for getting more CP, like last patch, you could spam cheap base buildings for getting free Tiger Ace while enemy just builded t3.
My teammate does agressive gren spam like 3 gren 1 mg then T2, bring Ht for himself, even PGS then goes t3 if you see you can finish the game by early pressure or go t4 for others.

Med bunkers: you should build med bunkers to that players HQ which is most closest to the front line ( 1 is eneugh)

The trololo strategy: what you need 2x pio, HT, 300 muni. (probably redistribute resources) : make 2 flame engi, put them into a halftrack , start researching the flame HT, meanwhile go to enemy base and plant a fast S minefield, wait the retreating enemy.

The Micro

You can read more about Micro and Macro in ToTW archive, but what i want to share is what is the best control in my opinion.
The right hand is always on the mouse, the hardest part is just coming:you move the camera with WSAD like in fps games, use control groups, so the 1,2,3,4 etc will be close at your left hand.(f1,f2 etc too),but basically everthing, what you should do is search another keys for WSAD keys (attack move etc, because the moving camera was the arrow keys, but we changed it, and if you use tactical map it could be the ctrl maybe...)
Learn every hotkey, like t2 = V B Bunker = B B etc. I dont know is there any list about these, but if you are ingame, you wanna build a T2, check its hotkey, and try to memorize it.
To change these you need a program, idk what kind of, but I hope someone will inform us in the comments below. ( so yeah, i am stucked with arrow keys atm, but i think you can be even faster with thing upper.)
Well, if you interested what i do is: right hand same , left hand on arrows, and if need some hotkey i move my left hand over somewhere wsad(like attack move, reversing), and thanks to opportunity i can blind writing, i can be fast, and can do the hotkeys without having to check the keyboard.

Map tips&tricks

First of all, in every map you must hold minimum one big resource point(fuel-ammo), where ammo is more important than fuel, then attack the enemys territory. The big resources are the closest one to your base, capture and hold them first without that i dont recommend to attack the enemy,because the game will be a big cat and mouse game. This is why i dont like it, when i must go back because enemy capture points behind the lines, makes you more volnurable.

Kharkov:
It is mather of perspective but Kharkov is south side favoured map. The key on this map is you must hold your cutoff and manage to cutoff the opponent. Usually the north player will play defensively because of the houses, while south player will be the attacker,but if south failed with attack ofc north will attack.
Here is the tactical map, which is seperated the territorys for each side, which you should control.

Dark blue, light red is which you must hold and the light blue&purple is the territory which you should hold to prevent enemy to attack your cutoff.( its funcional like a observation point.)
So in 2v2 for example that is why you both should go for your cutoff, and if one player goes left side and another goes right side , i am 99 % sure you will lose the match unless you are the Expendables Team.( it is because you or your mate will be gangbanged in 1v2 by the enemy.)
But i suggest you, that player 1: goes to "must have hold territorys" and player 2 goes to the "should hold territorys" ,then player 2 immediately attacks enemy cutoff, or in case helps the player one . Player one only attacks cutoff when he is able to hold those territorys.
An amatour representation where to attack.

There is the attacking routes, and in the second picture there is a example red line which shows if everything went as planned but failed to cutoff the enemy, how much map you will have- still eneugh for win. Try to hold minimum 1 VP, 1 ammo, 1 fuel point, + the cutoff. Rest of them doesnot really matter for germans.

North:
Very hard to play on this side in 1v1 with german, but lets try. If you may lose dont worry you will learn from mistakes, and you will be prepared next time.

Here goes my tips.

you can capture this point while making the wires. It prevents enemy passing by, and if it is capture you can capture back later without have to go into enemy territory.

same here,eneugh if you make the red line, so only the weapon teams wont pass, like maxim, but i prefer to wire the whole area.

at middle VP ,there is good placement for mines(red circle) and bunkers.

South:
Easy, but be aware that road behind cutoff near base. IF enemy player is smart he will attack from there.

cutoff points are good places to plant mines , and that enemy attack approach(the arrow one

Tactic on this map is, lets first get the territorys i drawed before, then attack middle& cutoff, meanwhile you can ninja cap the rest of territories. Once you managed to cutoff the enemy just build a bunker and tech for tanks.

Red-Blue shows which territory you must hold to get the win. The circles show the cutoffs, if you are cutoffed but hold the middle VP, you will still get resources because middle VP are connected to both base.

The map is small i think so the howitzers,pak43s, elefants with scopes or ISU as soviet are a good chooses.
If you playd coh1 , you know that there is another tactic which is attack imeddiately the enemys ammo point and get hmg-s into houses, then cutoff, but i think that is harder to achieve .

You can deny cover by making wires. (hay piles too)

Wiring the roads at middle VP helps you to concentrate on less flank approachs. You can also wire the other side of the road which i forgot to take screenshoot about( btw usually there is 100 % soviet mine, but for more information check Inverse's VVSMG CoH1 Strategies)

Using spotting scope on Scout Cars gives the huge LoS boost, like in this picture, vet3 SC can see more than half map. Look a legal maphack.

Using pak43 or simple pak40 ,you can shoot throught the bushes. And look there is the road+ mines i spoke about.

You can get call ins from this hidden point, helps you to attack the enemy behind if you are cutoffed(North player)

Also dont forgot make mines, like at front of the house door. ( But also check Inverse's video, he may did a video about mine locations, or TotW Achieve)

Conclusion:

Well I planned to make it german strategies, but then i filled it with everything else,but in lots of times ,a few of german hints works well with soviet too. We can say... it is universal. However it isnot finished yet, but i will put these * as soon as possible.

i would better bring one hmg instead of a gren, like 3 gren start then MG GREn, then you will have fuel for tech to t2. So I usually dont bring more than 4-5 unit from t1, better make muni OP for g43s, sprint,S-minefields.

But yours should work, but if enemy spamming conscripts(like last patch,not now haha) ,you can save lot of manpower by suppressing the enemy with HMG.
So in my opinion bringing 6 gren doesnot worth, because you will have high manpower drain, of course it is good against old sniper start spam, but not in this patch.

edit: what i can suggest you, have a standart build order , like I always start with 2-3 gren, then I usually know where is he went t1-t2-cons spam, so then i bring either hmg,more gren, mortal or sniper. (sniper as 3rd unit like VVSMG, mortal for 5th-last unit from t1). Always try to "adapt", for example I can bring CaptainSprice, he saw i have a sniper but still brings ShookTroops, then he wonder why he lost....so always have a standart, like his should have been after 2-3 penal battalion he should have bring sniper instead of ST squad..
