If only there were some sort of sigil above a unit that indicated its type. Or maybe if you clicked on it it could have a name somewhere. Or hell, maybe if the infantry had different weapons and different squad sizes you could tell them apart.

Yeah.


They didn't want the units to blend into the background, they wanted them to be easy to see and identify.

It makes sense.

Yeah, that's why units are so oversaturated, because it's eye-catching, and it's supposed to be.
