How to counter Penal start?

Gren just can't fight them, they die like flies, even 2 gren fighting one penal can't stop him

What would you solve it?

I wish i was playing the same game, where penals can outperform grens.

Once grens get upgrades, they are much more cost effective than penals. Also: rifle nades. Or Pgrens.

And if the soviet player doesn't go with guards, he has absolutely nothing against vehicles.

Penals are only good if they catch your opponent unaware with satchels. Penals need some love, not the other way around.

i hate penals when they rush at mg42 and throw satchel by the time your crew has packed the mg its too late and its a squad insta kill

I think I might actually start using a squad of penals in my T1 sniper/con strat. I think it's going to work well, in theory at least.

Penals aren't bad for a unit that costs 280 MP and have 6 pop cap. Too bad they cost 360 mp and have a 9 pop cap. It would be like putting the p4 to the cost of the panther. It's still a good tank but over priced. They are basically G43 grens with no Faust that loses DPS fighting any infantry as Pgrens do facing a sniper.

The PTRS's are fine as they are. Whenever i'm up against Guard Infantry, I always have to be careful with my vehicles or the Guards will completely destroy them. Good range, good damage and fairly cheap; if anything, the PTRS should nerfed since it's ridiculously good for the price. Even in the hands of Conscripts, the PTRS's are extremely potent.
