And someone has stolen half the wheels...

Obviously FichtenMoped got the caption is wrong. This Tiger was clearly just left overnight in Detroit.

Lavrinenko Dmitry Fedorovich - was the highest scoring tank ace of the Allies during World War II.
Lavrinenko destroyed 52 tanks in just 2.5 months of fierce fighting in 1941.
Outwardly, it bore little resemblance to the dashing warrior. By nature was very gentle and kind man.

P-51B Mustang with Luftwaffe colorscheme.

Part of a squadron that toured airfields to familiarize pilots with their opposition. The problem with that program (as opposed to modern "Top Gun" type programs) is that the Luftwaffe pilots being taught by that time were getting more inexperienced and poorly trained all the time. Inexperienced pilots get less out of opfor training since they don't even know their own craft well.

Luftwaffe training declined from 200 to 150 hours in '44. In the meantime US training was 250-300 hours and the British were upping training to 325 and even 340 hours.

Colorscheme here is a yellow tail and belly, to keep AA crews from trying to shoot it down.

Crossing the Rhine, March 1945: C-47 transport planes release hundreds of paratroops and their supplies over the Rees-Wesel area to the east of the Rhine. This was the greatest airborne operation of the war. Some 40,000 paratroops were dropped by 1,500 troop-carrying planes and gliders.
