Stephans Dom / St Stephen Cathedral in Vienna
construction began 1147 and took over 450 years

burned down two days before the fighting ended.

In other news.

The digits 05 carfed into its façade the symbol of the Austrian resistance.

0 stands for O,
and 5 for the 5th letter of the alphabet =>E
OE is an old writing style for Ö, the first letter in Österreich ( Austria )
since Hitler tried to erase all memory of Austria by renaming it, and all its provinces that also carried Österreich in its name into "Ostmark".

Did they "trigger" you or something?
The images are designed to be evocative.

The most disturbing thing about them tbh, is that the Nazis where right about the Soviet threat, as evidenced by what the Soviets did for the next 70 years after the war.

anti tank dog

I'm familiar with this horrific living contraption ;/ Of course the Russians came up with the idea.. the nice irony to it was, that they trained their dogs to run under the tanks - with their tanks during the training. When they attempted to deploy the anti tanks dogs "funny" thing happened.. the dogs started to run back toward the russian tanks lol, because they were used to the smell of the diesel, and not of that of the gasoline. Poetic justice I'd say..

Can anyone post any WWII pics with Browning Hi-Power pistol in use (if possible) ?
It's the only handgun used by the both sides of the war - the allied and the nazi. On the allied side by the SAS and Canadian forces, and on the Axis mostly by Fallschirmjäger and SS. Thx in advance.

Very last German Newsreel.
Sadly, I cant find a subtitled version anywhere.

In Berlin, Hauptmann Aghta and his bomb-disposal unit at work.

Civilians learn how to shoot Panzerfaust.

In the Chancellery courtyard, Hitler, accompanied by Axmann, greets 20 Iron Cross recipients from Hitler Youth ; several of the boys relate battlefield accomplishments.

First Iron Cross recipient in Volkssturm. Breslau: Gauleiter (District Party Director) Hanke at command post; men and women build defensive installations; street battle. Königsberg: commandant Lasch and Gauleiter )district Party Director) Koch at command post; Volkssturm set up positions; firing from ruins; wounded in basement military hospital; decorations awarded.
navy: evacuates refugees from East and West Prussia; brings supplies to Courland, firing at enemy coastal positions.

Reinforcements advance to Eastern Front.

German women describe soviet rapes (synchronous sound); murdered German civilians.

Stettin bridgehead: infantry and Volkssturm on embankment; knocked-out Stalin tank; flak in ground fighting; wounded assault-gun driver fights on; soldiers decorated. 11 min.

Interesting to see those camouflaged American soldiers. Too bad those camouflaged soldiers tend to get shot by their own men because of how camouflage patterns are more common in the German army than the Americans.
