So, about that seven-hour game...

So the longest game was a bit over seven hours. I'm part-horrified, part-jealous at such an epic achievement.
Do we know anything more about this game? Can Relic enlighten us? I am intrigued.
As an aside, CoH2.org community, what was your longest game? Was it cool as hell or just a grind? Mine was two hours on Montargis in vCoH (I was Wehr and had a brilliant back-and-forth on the ammo hill with a Brit opponent for most of it).

I desperately want it to be true, an epic duel that turned into a marathon battle.

Don't know how VIPs work. Only build t0 units and base rush to death? ;D

I think that was the match that convinced me that VPs were good, and eventually to take CoH more competitively.

apart from that: yeah, the 13h (i think it was 13h) 3v3 or 4v4 (prolly 4v4) replay on gr.org, that didn't even work because you couldn't load it because it was so big :-D
edit: here it is

i srsly had a 1.5hr automatch vcoh game once... but that was because i played random, got brits, and the wehr guy didnt want to kill my HQ truck, so i drove it around the map for probably 10-15 minutes being chased by a tiger... oh the memories.

I say it doesn't work because it's not true

if that was the case the dude put a lot of effort in producing almost 30 megabytes of data trash that looks exactly like a valid coh replay file.

I had a 1 hour 40 or more game in vCoH. I was Brits on Langres and he was PE. I firmly had the north VP and the centre locked down. He kept running in and scorching the centre VP non-stop. I couldn't quite hold off each push due to pop cap and the last 30 minutes of the game was me repairing the point and him scorching it over and over. Then he quit.
Did you at least remember to delete the two MG nests for more pop? ( ah the things we forget in the heat of battle.)

I have played many games that went past 2 hrs mark
I cannot see anyone playing 7.5 hrs intense battle. Someone is bound to make a major mistake and collapse in that time. Usually around 2 hr mark it becomes very hard to keep concentration, past 3rd hr it becomes physically painful (eyes, headache, numbing arm, etc)
I would assume that it was couple of friends making their own rules and not actually trying to win the game within normal game parameters.
P.S. If you have 2 teams of very good players, it becomes incredibly hard to break one down in annihilate match. Since capturing any point is enormously difficult and every bit of the map is fought over intensely. Out-capping, flanking and build order strategy of 1v1 games was completely irrelevant in COH team games and you really needed to achieve complete collapse of one of the flanks or center. Something like in the real war.
