I wish I had one of those in my back yard. That milkshake would definitely bring all the boys to the yard.

That and the StuGs are my favourite underused tanks. I get them as often as possible and never regret it.

Su-76 is actually bad, it takes 2 shots from Stugs and P4's to get destroyed Kappa

1 is a target.
2 are 2 targets.
3 are a problem
More than 3 is a reason to go try somewhere else

I seriously NEVER use this unit, until recently I saw a good amount of my infantry being bombarded to bits by this one. It didn't take long to take out once its support was wiped out, but it did open my eyes to the potential it might have.

It's a multi-purpose vehicle; the standard shot is excellent versus light vehicles and even tanks, at range or disabled, just like the stug. And you don't want your infantry near the barrage.

It's a stug with a barrage ability!

I would like info on how often it penetrates P4 and Ostwin armor.

In my experience it's gun damage to German T3 is negligible and useless vs infantry.
Quite good vs light vehicles, will definitely keep them off your back, but can't chase and kill them like T-70.

The barrage ability is fine as it is... really inaccurate, longish cooldown but still useful also free and on cheap unit so no complains there.

So in conclusion, to me this multipurpose tank lacks purposes other than barrage, and light vehicles counter. And I don't value counter to light vechicles much as I am usually good at dealing with them anyhow.

Regardless I am a fanboy of unused units and one thing I learned while using it is to drive at an infantry unit full speed while having barrage ability selected, then just before the minimum range circle reaches infantry activate it. The tank will not suddenly stop and fire but will slow down over distance first, thus letting you fire the barrage closer than your minimum range. And the closer you are to your target the more accurate it is :) Of course do this only when you know you wont get fousted and killed.

Oh also, upgunned scout car circle strafing SU 76 can kill it quite easy... If i remember correctly.

SU-76 has pretty good penetration against a p4, but it's armor is weak.

Not in my experiance... :(
Can anyone get down to numbers? I don't really know where this info lives.

I am fine with its armor completely... it is a cheapo unit after all. The problem to me is that if I use it smartly and have it in position it can shot at P4s while not getting shot at itself... its fire still just goes pling pling of it's armor and all that micro would have been better somewhere else.

I think it has better penetration than T34, but still, it takes 2 shots from P4 to get killed and it requires like 6 shots to kill P4 lol

You need to use either 2 of them (which is possible as 2 cost like 360mp/110 fuel, same as 1 pIV) or you use AT nades/mines to immobilize enemy tanks. Then you can gun it down from afar with spotters. Barrage its support infantry first and then kill off the tank itself.

Actually, when I think of it... You need both :D

It seems to have like 60m shooting range, which is enough to outgun enemy tanks I think.

Yeah it do.

Little buggers are tough. Turn pretty fast to boot. I've seen folks attempt to circle strafe it assuming its turn rate was comparable to a SU-85. A few seconds later and their scout car/halftrack is a smoking wreck.

When they do make it to mid/late game they become a secondary target, often letting them sneak in a few shots while their P4 is circle strafing the crap out of my tank destroyers.

T34 has 80 penetration, 120 damage and something like 5 sec reload, SU76 has 95 penetration, 80 damage and 2.5sec reload. It also has 60 range compared to T34 40 range. However, T34 kills infantry much better because of its splash damage and 2 coaxial MGs and has 640hp(su76 has 320). SU76m gets +20 damage at vet2(that is 100 damage).

I build 2 of SU-76 if I go t1-t4 with guards, its enough to destroy medium armor. Then I either build su85 if I see heavy vehicles or spam su76 if opponent builds t3 or save for ISU-152 or t34-85 call-ins.

You absolutely need to get at nades if you want to use su 76 remotely successful against vehicles like pIV. Also, make sure you get 2-3 of them. You can also add a zis-3 to provide circling protection. At gun cloak + su 76 baiting is pretty nasty. And later on you'll need some sort of heavy tank to protect them from schrecks etc.

If you loose them recklessly you'll be in huge trouble.

Anyone try SU-76 with Soviet Industry? I feel like rushing 2-3 SU-76s then getting an SU-85 or a Katyusha depending on the German play could be pretty effective.
