Pio/CE Flamethrower upgrade

Straight to my point.
I really dislike idea of getting flamethrowers for pios/CE and after first fight they explode when fuel tank (5%chance) gets hit. Maybe its not big percentage but it makes flame upgrades somehow pointless when you know this can happen. Secondly it involves no skill just pure RNG.
On the other hand i like these little things happening to your troops but it should somehow involve your opponent at least trying little bit harder to get rid off that flame squad.

So here is what i propose:

  • 0% chance from small arms fire - involved no skill just pray to RNG gods
  • 5% chance from mortar fire (this is basically how it works now and a lot of things about mortars is RNG so dont change this(of course discuss)) - i would probably go for 0% also
  • 25-50% (discuss the percentage) chance from mines. - counter, playing as soviets
  • 25-50% (discuss the percentage) chance from a rifle nade IF squad is suppressed or pinned. - counter, playing as germans


Its almost same amount of munition (yes i know Rnades are unlocked at BP2 but if you think about it that u can also use mines as germans (those 80muni AI mines) to counter those CEs its in my eyes ok) so i think it MIGHT be balanced this way. of course feel free to discuss. Also it will make you buy wirecutters/minedetectors a lot more to prevent your flame pios getting "mined". So there is more space for 2pios opening etc.


This will eliminate the total randomness of small arms fire to almost instagib your squad with 60munitions with it.
Provides a counter for 60 muni upgrade in a 30 muni mine which may or may not (this is why i want bigger percentage(closer to 50% or even more) on mine detonation to make it somehow reliable) destroy the flamethrower which a lot of times kill at least 1-2 more models + mine detonation can be really harmful.
Provides a counter for 35 muni(correct me if wrong) as a rifle nade BUT Combat Engineers squad MUST be pinned or suppressed to avoid being it even more easy to kill those poor CE.

I know it might be little bit complicated, being it just one upgrade but i really think that spending that 60 muni will ALWAYS be better somewhere else and this is a problem which i am trying to mitigate.

One game i upgraded it during a firefight and it exploded right when it upgraded, rofl.

god, do i remember the times when i see an pioneer or engineer just getting a flamethrower to just see it explode immediately upon receiving it. thanks relic's stupid rng.
