trying to use custom icons for some units and im using png format and added icons to the attrib in the mod builder. pls help

Ensure flex is installed properly.
Reduce the pathing length by moving the mod folder and PNG's so it is the close the the C drive.
C:\modFolder
instead of
C:\Users\yourComputerName\Documents\myMod
The length of characters are important so reducing it needed.

how do i know if flex is installed properly?

I am not sure how you would check it. Here is a copy of flex I use:
