Relativley good game, but Im struggling against USA blobs. My opponent claimed I played badly, but I had much higher kills.

Any feedback on my play would be appreciated :)

Allies are frequently going to have a worse K/D ratio than axis, units are cheaper to reinforce and individual models have less health.

Unless someone combines it with a "wp", I always tell anyone who complains about balance during the game that the reason they lost because they suck, even if it's not true. I'm gonna watch it tho and see who was right.

Well, you lost a volk, a falls, and a sturmpio and your flak HT, then go stuka, without killing any of your opponents units. Then you throw the kubel away. Then you lose ANOTHER sturmpio. I didn't finish the replay, but I don't think you outplayed your opponent.

At any cost dont loose Ur unites just retreat when u see they heavy on u. play on a one sight of the map if u see a fast flacktruck coming get a puma before getting ur falcktruck and keep ur troops stick gather. And then get a obersouldaten to counter the spam.

I appreciate the feed back. Unit preservation can be quite hard as OKW, it's something I need to try harder with. But blobs of inf can wipe squads really fast especially if busy else where.

Do people regularly go all tiers vs USA to have a puma, medics and Obers? Normally I go T2-4 which does quite well unless the enemy harasses a lot with medium vehicles.

Yes I was a little frustrated in the game as the title states.. I was struggling for ways to counter the blob.

Yes I got a Stuka, because of the blob. Yes I lost a few (too many units), but I did take out some of his.

I didn't say I outplayed him, clearly he outplayed me after the early game, I just asked for tips and critique.

Basically, the key to OKW is keeping everything alive. As long as the majority of what you started with lives till the end you're most likely guaranteed a win unless your opponent has better unit preservation and skill.

I got lucky in this game. I'm really struggling playing with US because their units die so easily. On the other hand you get to practise your micro a lot.

Thanks a lot for the in depth analysis Romeo, really appreciate it. I absolutely agree with everything you said and will be working on all those things.

I'm probably a little used to Soviet style play hence spreading too thinly.

I agree the Sturm tiger is easier to use and has netted me better results.

I've never had good success with the flak HT, i think it is too micro heavy for me at least. So easy to lose to even inf. Normally I just go T2-T4, but I've been told you need a puma vs USA. Normally I get a Jagd, rakketen an shrek, which is very good defence around flak HQ.. But flanks get harassed too much by vehicles.

Would it be ok to go T3 just for a puma, then T4 and then back teck for medics?

I have barley used T3 or Luftwafe, I normally use the other tiers and doctrines.

I think the biggest thing for me to learn is to concentrate my forces (and micro), so as to avoid squad losses. I seem to have a detrimental obsession with capping.

No problem, I'm glad it was helpful. I agree that the flak halftrack is a little too fragile vs infantry if you're not constantly baby sitting it. The jagd is great, but it's so expensive that sometimes you've already lost by the time you can afford one. Racketen+shreck is always a good idea, but they are for defense. A puma is able to chase and kill the american light vehicles, and don't be afraid to scout his base and 2-shot his ambulance if he hasn't teched bazookas.

It's definitely okay to go T3 just for a puma. In fact I wouldn't recommend buying more than one T3 unit before teching to T4, no matter which one you choose. Back tech to medics when you feel comfortable doing so, since you don't want to spend 500 munitions on healing crates.

But yes, keep your forces a little closer together and you'll find it way easier to keep them alive.

I actually think it makes a strong case for relic to do something about blobbing. You had the map dominated early game and had two suppression units (the kubel and flak track) in good position. The flak track targeted the wrong unit and the captain killed you with two bazooka volleys (too easy IMO, needs an armor buff) and I think the Kubel was a pathing issue. When you saw the blobbing, you reacted with another suppression unit (MG34) and what everyone says is the hard counter to blobs (the stuka) and he still had no problem pushing you off the map. Problem with the stuka is that you have to immediately retreat your units against a blob and lose sight on the enemy as a result, so the barrage requires some luck to be effective at that point.

For what it's worth, he didn't blob the whole game, but it was pretty easy for him to get back in it with a single blob of combined arms, attack move.

If you're not fast enough for the blobs, you're not fast enough for COH2 anymore.

I think there are a lot of good players who are getting focus fired down by blobs and wondering wtf just happened. They aren't used to the more intense multitasking, or can't get fast enough.

Blobbing never works against a good player so if you want to climb on the ladder you need to learn some micro. And that takes pratise.

Well like Romeo said, farbrorjoakim did a good job of unit preservation even when I was dominating (but starting to lose units in the process), and had a few more of my Stuka strikes landed on the blob, I probably would have won, so correct counter... badly executed.

But yes, it would be nice if the suppression units, particularly the flak truck, could actually halt a blob in its tracks, or require more than 2 bazoka hits, one single inf unit taking it out in a few seconds, while its set up is very confusing.

Your vehicle play and choices were great, but your infantry usage and tactics sucked. That airborne assault was epic, too.
