Corrected an error in previous patch; shots fired from barrage ability set back to 6.

Well, basically it should mean that player's rank is decreasing through time, when he's inactive. This is to make rankings fresh all the time, resulting in (hopefully) forcing top players to be active again, as well as giving a chance to those wannabes who normally couldn't be on the top cause some top players could've just safely stopped playing after reaching very high streak/ratio, not willing to risk it.

I hope we'll get some details on how this mechanism exactly works.

Ah, thanks for the explanation.

My opinion: If you want to be on the top you have to play and win. Getting a rank because someone who is better then me doesn´t play fore a while sounds wrong and undeserved.

Fanatic - there are some issues with non-decaying ladders - for example some players have been able to build up a very enviable record early on when many new players are on (thus getting many easy wins and few losses) also taking advantage of exploits like the free fhq's before they are patched can allow people to take an unassailable position in terms of win/loss ratio that may be hard to better through normal play. Ladder decay means that patch and balance changes become irrelevant to ladder positions across time and you can clearly see who is mastering the 'current' build

Anyone who got to a high rank using the free FHQ's will fall back down if their skill isn't up to par with their Elo. Decay just means they can't abuse exploits to get a high Elo and then sit where they don't belong when the bug is fixed. If they manage to hold the position that FHQ's catapulted them to, then they actually belong there and the bug just made them get closer to their true Elo faster.

No idea but I imagine it should be quite slow or maybe only affect 'dormant' rankings -ones which have had no activity for a period of time?

Most, if not all, systems do.

Decay will promote an active ladder and the players who can climb will feel rewarded by no longer being #2 after a player who hasn't played since beta.
You call it undeserved, but what merit is there in someone who hasn't played in 2-3 month being #1? Far more warranted if he would be here to defend his position, would you not say?

I've asked for information and have a bit to share with you.

We're going to be fine tuning this over the upcoming weeks until we settle on something that we're fully happy with. This was something that you guys have been asking for for awhile and the balance team and myself were pushing for, so I'm glad to see it get into today's patch.

Basically if you haven't played for X days (currently set to a week) then we decrement the top 200 rated players per leaderboard by (rating - 1000)*Y where the current value for Y is set at 4%.

The mathless version is that if you don't play for a week you'll start to drop in rank bit by bit until you either play again, or you drop out of the top 200.

Again these values may be adjusted, so your feedback on how it's working is important.

Why change like EVERYTHING?? This is like making a new beta.
Why nerf/buff units that are already balanced and not just nerf/buff units that isnt?
