Contender Bout #2

Fight Card by SebHoggene * click for fullsize

After the Second Quali Tourney last Sunday and some of the best games we've seen so far this season, the two contenders left standing were Symbiosis and DevM. Contender Bout #2 will be a best-of-five affair, featuring the exciting custom maps; Argentan Crossroads by WhiteFlashReborn and Bois-du-Chatelet by OnkelSam. The winner of this Bout will be the second to move on to the overall Final Four, set to compete again in the Semi-Finals in Week 10. The loser will have to take his game back to the drawing board. His consolation prize is the opportunity to accept the #1 seed in the Third Qauli Tourney, which takes place on December 16th. Open sign-ups for the Third Quali Tourney will go live on Binary Beast at 8pm GMT this Sunday! I hope you can multitask, because we don't want you to miss the start of Sunday Night Fights, also at 8pm GMT.

The Second Quali Tourney yet again featured some of the biggest and best in the Company of Heroes scene; KoreanArmy, Barton, Tommy, Pepsi, Inverse, Magpies and several others all fell in the initial rounds. This left us with two mouth-watering match-ups for the SNF cast with the legendary Sepha taking on the loser of Contender Bout #1 Symbiosis and two of the heavy hitters from last season, DevM and Fir3ball facing off in the other match. DevM, the young Portuguese pro, so utterly demolished Fir3ball that the total length of the 2-0 victory was under 20 minutes. The display of early-game power, aggression and perfect jeep micro left Fir3ball floundering. DevM took both games without Fir3ball ever truly connecting a significant resource point.

In the other match-up, the tussle between Sepha and Symbiosis produced the best series so far this season. The first game included a simultaneous V-1 and Firestorm strike, as well as several large scale armoured engagements. The second game saw an HQ get destroyed, a sniper rack up 60 kills, and an unbelievable hero-croc. After these two high-skilled, intense matches, it was the consistency that is Symbiosis' trademark that allowed him to take advantage of a flagging Sepha and secure his spot in Contender Bout #2. Game 3 had 1,032 max concurrent viewers on Sunday Night Fights, a record breaking number for the show! The VODs of all of these games are available on the COH2.ORG Youtube channel.

Sunday's SNF S04E04 will be hosted, as always, by the drum solo specialist AmiPolizeiFunk and his partner-in-crime Yoink. The expert special guest this week is the man who romped to victory in Contender Bout #1 and will be looking to scout his potential rivals in the future, Aimstrong. Symbiosis lost hard to Aimstrong in his last showing and will want to prove that he can do better this weekend. However, he is facing the supremely confident early-game master DevM, who has said, "I'm ready to kick his ass". Will DevM roll through Symbiosis, will he kick his ass? Or will Symbiosis' solid play prove to be too much for DevM as it did in the First Quali Tourney, when Symbiosis 2-0'd DevM? Both have a lot to prove so make sure to tune in this Sunday!
