usually I search for players after a game. Then I want to find out what happened to my rank, and who was that guy I played against. And I guess this what most people use the ladder for (?). Forget about the top players for a minute, they are not the 99%.

A thought for those searches.
  • searching my own rank and finding out to have moved from 23455 to 23555 is a cool info. Adding to that would be to have a few categories. this is a again a vCoH reference. Those levels were nice. something to look at, to say, ok, I want to move from 12 to 13 next month.
  • and for searching my own rank, is there a way to put a link in the after game screens? preferably even opening in the steam browser to stay in the game? Would probably let lots of people find out, there is a way to look that up. And a pretty nice source for website traffic. Already discussed?
  • for searching other players: how come you can display my steam display name but I cannot search for it? even if I would find more than one gunther09, that search would come really handy.

And of course: thanks a lot for having what we now have!

We have no control on in-game content. It is extremely unlikely that Relic will link to this ladder in anything other than a newspost since they're still working on ladders internally.

And you can't search by display name because it would mean scraping Steam's API for their search results (which they don't let you do AFAIK). It's something for the future; for now, manually searching for a player through Steam and then putting their Steam ID into our system is as good as it will get.

Any chance of getting individual high res pictures of the 1st,2nd and 3rd place medals? I would greatly appreciate it!

Those are a custom color scheme based on actual art from the game, and I'm afraid they don't come any higher res than the ones I posted in the newspost. That would have to be made, if it was needed.

We could ask Relic if they have larger versions of those simple star medals. Maybe they will release them to us. :) It might indeed be nice to use bigger versions in other places, like on coh2.org player profiles/user pages.

I've had difficulty finding some people's Steam profiles using the normal methods. This should help if your friend has an unlisted profile or a very common username (or if, for some reason, Steam just can't find the person you're looking for).
Here is a way to get the Steam ID number of players on your Steam Friends List, if you're having difficulty:
Right click on the name and click "View Steam Profile"

This will open the Steam browser. Right click on the background of the page and click "Copy Page URL"

Paste the URL. The Steam ID is the long string of numbers after "http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/ ". Copy that number into the SteamID search field on the Player Search page to find your friend.

If you get a customized URL (eg http://steamcommunity.com/id/onkelsam ), you can use the Steam ID converter.

To be pedantic, the custom url would be: http://steamcommunity.com/id/onkelsam

Manually adding "?xml=1" to it will give you the page as an xml output, where you can easily read his steamID at the top:

<steamID64>76561197986270486</steamID64>

Ah, and I just edited it, thinking I could get it changed before anyone noticed...

Good work guys! Could you add a total win/lose ratio for each faction (/mode)? Just out of curiosity?

Yeah that would be great. I was thinking of putting it on my stream profile ^.^

What would be really cool is to have a graph of your rankings over time. I don't know what the Steam API includes, but I think it would be a good addition.

I'm not sure if it's better to reply here or in your thread, so I'll probably just do here so everyone can see.

The short version is that his elo rating (which you can't see, but is what determines the actual leaderboard position ) is higher ( not by much though. )

The easy to see version of this is his win % is higher than yours. He wins more of his matches than you do. Your elo will have gone up a fair amount when you beat him, but if you had lost, would have gone down a lesser amount. My guess without looking is that he just won games against a few more higher rated players than you.

You are obviously becoming better at the game, if you're playing people and constantly winning. If you won your next 6 games or so ( assuming they were all fairly highly ranked) , you would be around the same level as Guru

Note to future commentors, I'm not going to go into this deep of analysis for everyone.

Congrats guys! Awesome job, brings a tear to my eyes. Wish we had this back in the days of vCoH (post relic rank).

I also wish I could play CoH2 more and be a part of helping/contributing to this community.

Keep up the great work, you guys are amazing!

also. woot, the leaderboards look awesome. It would be cool if I were looking at a replay I could click on the playername somewhere, and it would have a link to 'look up this guy's leaderboard stats.

That's already implemented in our REPLAYS section! :) Or did you mean in-game?

weird, when I looked at this page http://www.coh2.org/replays/6843/this-is-ladder-place-24-88 from work, and clicked on the player names it didn't show the stats. but now that I'm home it works.
